We will be booking an August trip on the Wonder shortly and we have 3 kids. Price looks much better to get connecting rooms than a Family Suite so we will likely go that route. As I scan the different booking sites on line it looks like we can choose Decks 1 or 2 for a slightly cheaper amount or Decks 5 6 or 7 for something a little more. We are looking for outside deluxe since we don't think we would use the verandah much on a 4 day cruise.
Any advice from the veterans out there?

Hi Bob,
I was on the Wonder in April. We booked cabin 7592. It is almost directly across the passageway from the laundry room. It was very quiet, and I loved it. The verandah was nice even just for a few nights. If you are looking for more specifics on the Wonder and cabin reviews check out disboards.com. Disboards.com is very similar to CC, but covers all things Disney.
Hope this helps.

Deck one the port holes are way too small.
Deck 2 is great port hole windows that are large. Decks 1 and 2 have a lot less motion than the upper decks and they are much quieter. If you get midship on deck 2 it will be the least amount of motion of any rooms on the ship.
Rooms toward the front of the ship have a lot more motion, midship is the least motion and aft is some motion, but not as bad as the front. if that makes any differences to you.
We have been on decks 2, 5, 6, 7, 8 a few times.
we love deck 2 for the quiet.
love upper decks because they are closer to the restaurants and clubs. Although it really isnt far no matter where you are.
Before booking on deck two, check out the noisy rooms site on the dis boards to make sure you dont have a noisy room. there are a few near the thrusters and they can be noisy. there about 10 of them. But all the rest of the rooms are very quiet.
Deck 5 has traffic going to the kids clubs and movie theater, some of the rooms in the front of the ship on the upper decks are right above the night clubs and they do get noisy!!! They stay that way until really late too. There are no lists for this, but just stay midship or aft, dont take any forward rooms and you will be safe.
Hope this helps some, if you have any other questions just ask and I iwll try to answer. I just got off the Wonder 2 weeks ago, it was our 11th DCL cruise, so far.

I think we got the last two connecting rooms left on the ship! Ended up with Category 10 Inside Deluxe in order to get two connecting. Guess we will have to book earlier next time if we want to do it this way. Leaving on 8/6, the day after my twin girls birthday. Haven't told the kids yet, we may keep it a secret until the day we fly to Orlando.

Hi Bob,
so glad to hear you got your connecting rooms. I'm sure it will work out great for you. Most people are not in their rooms much accept to change for dinner and to sleep.
A quick couple of things you might like to know before you cruise that you wont read on any brochure.
1. Take a new white washed pillowcase, one for each kid and put in a zip lock bag with water proof markers, such as sharpies and include a card with your name and room number on it. Take this the first day and leave it at guest services desk and request autographs. At the end of your cruise they will be delivered to your stateroom late on the last night, all autographed. soemtimes you have to pick them up at the guest service desk late the last night, but they try to deliver. It makes for a great free souvenir to surprise the kids with. I love mine, I use them for company in the guest room. You must do this the first day in order for them to have enough time to get them signed!!!
2. They will have a place and time listed in the Navigator the day before you get to castaway cay that will be for kite making. each of your kids canmake these and decorate them and then fly them on CC with your help. Plus they get to keep them as a free souvenir. They fold down quite small for packing.
3. at the guest services desk you can ask for the hidden mickey scavenger hunt sheet. This helps you to find all the hidden Mickeys around the ship. Kids usually love to do this and it will introduce them to lots of areas of the ship.
4. There is a new Pirate scavenger hunt on CC. You get the instructions the evening before. check your Navigator for the place and time. This is alot of fun and takes about an hour to do. A couple of the clues are hard to figure out, the first and third ones for sure. The rest are pretty easy so you can solve the riddle without all the answers if need be. You can work on this on and off all day. But to keep from spending a lot of time back tracking, walk to the beach, dont ride the tram that way you will have the first 3 or 4 clues solved, then enjoy your day. the rest of the clues are around the beach area and gift shops, which is the area you will be in anyway. this will save some walking. Once you solve it and follow the instructions you will all receive a share of the pirates treasure from the treasure keeper.
Have a Magical cruise and I hope you will post a trip report when you return!!

Hey Kathy... question for ya. Have you ever stayed on deck 5? I've heard its not quite as nice as deck six in regards to bad weather. We used our verandah a lot on the last cruise and I sure hope we'll be able to on this one...we're in the aft part of deck 5-verandah with plexiglass rails.
This ones open to anyone with experience....comments?

Hi Bill,
We have stayed on deck 5 a couple of times. We always request Aft.
It is much quieter than forward areas around the clubs.
We had the verandah and sat out there quite a bit in the early morning, late night and while in port and had no problems at all.
The verandahs with the plexiglass rails have the best view for the most part. some rooms have solid walls with the port hole views. with those you have to stand up and lean out the windows to have any view.
I'm sure you'll like deck 5.
Plus you are a little closer to the water and easier to spot large fish that sometimes swim along side the ship. We have seen some whoppers from deck 5, wished I had my reel and pole with me!!! They probably would of pulled me in. I have wondered what the Captain would say if he looked back along the balconies and saw someone sitting there fishing? It would be tempting to do while docked in port.

Hey Kathy...ty, kinda put my mind at ease. I just dont wanna get on this boat and not have the same great experience we had the last time. I even had worries about those 6 little inches difference in the verandah space between decks 6 and 5. Talk about being a lil obsessed--I really need to calm down. Its still 6 months 4 days 2 hours 10 minutes til we board...lol.
Takes me awhile to save up for these things but I'm determined to make it a yearly thing for us. From the people we've met on here so far, I have very few concerns about it being a bad trip. I know its going to be an incredible getaway!
Talk to ya soon~

Hi Bill,
Yep, no doubt, we have a lively group going with us on this cruise!!!
I cant wait!
Our second trip was every bit as great as the first one. On the 2nd trip you know how everything works, so less stress of figuring out how the schedule goes. So more time to enjoy yourself.
From reading all your posts I think you and woogal would have a blast no matter what ship you are on, even if you had to sleep in the lifeboat!!!
We are HOT HOT HOT here today. In the 90's all week!! I hate summers in Florida, btu love the winters!!
Take care,
kathy

Hey Kathy... I'm sure you're right about us enjoying ourselves. As for the weather....ick. At least you folks are pretty acclimated to the climate. It doesn't seem to change as radically as ours. I was going to put in tomato and peppers in the garden today---I tilled the area yesterday and I am so sore from it! Well, I CAN'T! We have frost warnings for tonight...mid to upper 30's. The extended forcast calls for 86f on Saturday...thats a 50 degree shift! Anyways...hope things are goin good for ya. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

I stayed in a Category 9 on Deck 2 midship, and very highly recommend it. Just go to www.dcltribute.com (http://www.dcltribute.com) and check to make sure that your room is not on the list of noisy rooms, and is also not near it. I was in room 2578, and it was very quiet. Deck 2 midship is also very convenient. Just 1 flight of stairs down to get to either of the gangways when in port. Just 1 flight of stairs up to get to get to the attractions on Deck 3, and just 2 flights of stairs up to get to the attractins on Deck 4. The only times we really used the elevators were to go to Decks 9 and 10. But you have easy access to all 3 elevator lobbies, and since not everyone tries to access Decks 9 and 10 at the same time (unlike Decks 1, 3, and 4), the elevators were very fast. So, in that respect, I think that Deck 2 is more convenient than the upper decks, despite being further from Decks 9 and 10. Also, on a lower deck and midship you get less motion. The Category 8 rooms on Decks 5, 6, and 7 are all foward. Good luck and enjoy your cruise!
