Please help!!! I just got home from an INCREDIBLE week on the Golden Princess. But...someone please help me deal with my post cruise depression! I felt it coming on last night (the last night of the cruise) and now that I'm actually home I just can't shake it!! Am I crazy? Any suggestions? http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

The only way I've found to adequately deal with the post cruise letdown that inevitably occurs is to start planning our next cruise. Sharing cruise pictures, memories etc. with family and friends helps for awhile, but nothing beats beginning to research another trip.

Next time you cruise Princess, book another cruise on board. Nip it in the bud. An open booking, no ship, no date, is $100 pp, and the booking last for 4 yrs. You will dance off the ship.

I put down the $100 future cruise credit...but that wasn't good enough!! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif I've been trying to think about when I could go again and it doesn't look good for quite a while. Maybe that is part of the problem!

Also, Sue...you had e-mailed me with some pics and had encouraged me to book the aft cabin on Aloha...You were right, it was fantastic! I will never go less than a balcony again. I was afraid of that! No turning back http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Thanks!

Thats great. Glad you enjoyed it. Aren't the views awesome? Why don't you book something for 2006, and save. You might be surprised, that you have enough to go earlier. Also this one time, you could book an inside on Aloha, and use the terrace area as your balcony. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Good luck,

When we were on the Golden last month I did just what Sue said and booked a future cruise on the ship.

That was the mildest case of PCD I've ever had, like a little tickle in the throat that does not turn out to be anything.

Happy Cruising

The four stages of cruising: planning, anticipation, experience(the cruise itself), and reflection. You need to always be in stages 1 and 4 and be looking for 2 and 3. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I know exactly how you feel. We're suffering PCD badly, in spite of having another cruise booked. Last week on the Golden has to rank as the best 7 days at sea we've experienced.

Coming up:
Caribbean Princess Apr 3/04
Golden Princess Apr 10/04
Tahitian Princess Oct 14/04

What I did also was book a future cruise while I was on the Coral just this last Feb. By the end of this last month my DH and I already put the deposit down on a cruise to the Mexican Rivera on the Sapphire for this Oct. So now I am dreaming and planning on that. What helps is there is already a roll call started on this cruise so we have been chit-chatting with those people. It makes the time go faster.

Just like Todd, I booked a 3 day get away!! Can hardly wait - 3 days on the Island. I am also going withdrawl, cannot believe that I was just getting off the ship 2 weeks ago.

I also love to read the reviews of the ship that I was on - speaking of which, if anyone was on the Island in the past couple of weeks your feedback / review would be greatly appreciated.

I think it always helps to have the next cruise booked! We last cruised in Feb and aren't going again until Apr 2005, we are actually taking a land vacation in June, this will be ok but not the same as cruising.

It's ironic - I was just on the role call board saying that I am having pre-post cruise depression because today is Monday and we will disembark 4 weeks from today. At least you have a good reason - I'm just nuts!

wolf, I think once you have been on a cruise, if you enjoyed it, you are permanently in stage 4 reflection. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gifStage 1 planning has become permanent around here lately. We are in stage 2 anticipation for the 7/03 CP. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

You can always keep planning even if you don't book anything. To me this board has a lot onf stage 1 and 4, even though most is 3.

After cruising on the Grand in February, I had horrific depression. Nothing could have been worse than watching the Grand leave from across the port at the Hyatt Pier 66.

Sharing pictures and memories have been wonderful therapy. I have yet however been able to sit down and write a review, as it will bring some sort of closure that I'm not quite ready for.

On the other hand, the best part of cruising was the anticipation. And, I too had some depression a few days prior to crusing because I knew that all too soon it would all be over.

Tommyboy, when you are able to remember the cruise fondly, you will have some powerful stage 4 reflection. You may end up talking others into taking a cruise just because of your enthusiasm at telling of your experiences. You certainly will talk yourself into another one sooner than you planned. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

My husband says that at some point I am going to have to get help for my addiction!! He's worried that the more I cruise the deeper I get hooked (He's right http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif) He says I am like a drug addict. Sometimes I feel that way too! What is it about cruising that does this to me? For years I wouldn't even consider a cruise because I didn't think I'd like it! Just think what I have been missing!!!

I am new to cruise critic and find it fascinating to get all these informations from the Chat Board. Since you just came back from Golden Princess, can you give me informations about the cruise? Maybe talking about it to another person might help your depression. I will be on the Golden Princess on 5/9 for the Southern Carribbean trip. Any help would be appreciated.
