I know this will make several people roll their eyes, but hey, it's a legit question http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
I'm going to be on an Alaska cruise in early May----and May 9th is the season finale of Survivor.
Is there any chance in hell it will be on the ship's TVs? And before anyone says TiVo it or tape it or what have you...it's just not the same http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Roohound,
You asked a legitimate question that deserves an answer, even if some disagree with your priorities.
Unfortunately, Princess TV does not include the broadcast networks, except some major sporting events, such as the Superbowl, etc. I seriously doubt if the season finale of Survivor would qualify, so I guess you’ll have to make those other arrangements.
What you will get on Princess TV are CNN, CNBC, ESPN and TNT, plus shipboard channels, including movies. I may have missed some, but these are the ones I can recall.

If you are at the dock at Skagway, forget it on the ship as the satellite is just not available with the mountains in the way.

well u could always set your timers at home or you could set a pvr timer on dish
this is only a idea if u are worried about missing a show
tivo is the other, but the cheapest would be a vcr timer or have a friend do it

s'ok cknapp151....your response was sincere and well intentioned..I have *no* problem with that http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
One more thing before I forget, it always amazes me how people think it's their responsibility to tell others what their priorities should be.
Personally, I figured it would be cool if Princess showed the finale in one of the lounges and a bunch of folks could gather and watch....shows like that are always fun with groups http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

When we were on the Island last October they played the World Series, but I have never seen any other TV shows shown. I agree with you about what a bummer it is missing a favorite show! I dont think there is anything wrong with taking an hour or two out of a vacation to watch the conclusion of something you have vested hours of watching into!
I was bummed to miss the "Apprentice" on NBC last week, but not enough to be sorry I was on the Diamond in Mexico! Imagine my pleasure when I turned on CNBC in the stateroom the next night to see it replayed!!!!
Also, remember, the internet cafe is a great place to get updates! I did for American Idol!

They were able to show the Oscars in the Vista lounge on our last cruise and made a big party out of it. So they have a dish, but will they have the season finale of Survivor on? Pack some rabbit ears and hook them up to your cabin TV, You may get lucky. I have heard of worse things to smuggle. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Have fun.

Or you could ask them when you first board to see if they could possibly set something up? I know they'd be interested if they could get a "party" going with the booze flowing. May be something they just havent thought of offering if they could get it on the satellite.
I was on Celebrity during the Super Bowl and they turned the showroom into a big screen tv room with free stadium food and drink specials. We had a great time and probably had one of the biggest "tvs" to watch it on.

Oh wow, how cool would that be? All they would need to do is put it in a small lounge, make sure we have access to buy drinks.....heck, they could make some decent $$$$$$ LOL
