Well, sort of. We are boarding the Statendam in Seward on May 26. A friend of ours will board the Veendam on June 6. I was thinking about sending her a Bon Voyage postcard from our ship as a surprise. If I drop it at Guest Relations before sailing time, do you think they would hand it to the port agent so he later could deliver it to the Veendam when she arrives in Seward?

As adress, I would put on the card:

Mrs. xxx xxx
ms Veendam
Boarding in Seward
on June 4, 2006

Do you think that will work?

Other ideas how I should phrase the adress?

I think I would put the postcard in an envelope. Go to the desk and ask the address of HAL's Port Agent in Seward. Address the envelope and write on it a Please Note: Request is made the postcard inside this envelope be delivered to Veendam for an embarking guest. BE SURE to put her cabin number along with her name, Veendam, the date of her arrival in Seward and it just might happen. Certainly worth trying. :)

The address of the port agent should also be in the Daily Program for the day you will be in that port.

 You're right, Grumpy, that passengers get the Port Agents name and address for every port but isn't it on the sheet they hand out with the info regarding the port? I'm always careful to toss that sheet in my purse when we go ashore 'just in case'. It's good to have that info available in the event of an emergency etc

It was also in the daily program. I guess the really want you to know how to get in touch with the port agent when you get back to the dock an hour after the ship has sailed.

:) Hope I never have to 'seek their assistance'. ;)

Anyone knows the adress of the port agent? Problem is Seward is our embarkation port, so we don't have the port information sheet.

But isn't it the port agent who picks up the mail from the ship to post it ashore? So I probably wouldn't need the adress anyway.

Also, my friend has a GTY cabin and wasn't assigned a cabin number yet, so I just have to try my luck and see if the card arrives with just her name, ship and boarding date.
