Has anyone taken the "Taste of Haines" excursion in the past, or is Haines a new port of call for Princess? It's a 2 hour tour of the Haines Brewing Company for tasting beer and Dejon Delights for smoked fish. Wondering if my folks (celebrating their 50th anniversary) would enjoy that (sis and I would treat them.) They've been to Alaska a few times so have an "Been there, done that" attitude to many things.
Thanks, Jackie

I'm so excited, I've finally been Derfed. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Thanks for the links. The private tour sure looks more interesting than the Princess tour (no artist enclave nor lunch)

Yeshua- also does excellent tours in Haines. If they are going later in the season- the rafting with Eco Orca is my top pick. Excellent scenery, eagles and suitable for most everyone.

When our ship was in Skagway last summer, we took the fast ferry over to Haines. We went kayaking on Chilkoot Lake with Eco Orca. It was a great excursion. We had one guide for just the two of us. Going to Haines was one of the highlights of our cruise.
Most of the time, I've found that we can do more for less money if we book excursions on our own and not through the cruise line. The description of the Taste of Haines excursion doesn't thrill me.

Thanks for the suggestions. The folks are both not active, so rafting is out for them, but sounds great for me. The Taste of Haines excursion didn't thrill me either, but sis and I were trying to find something to send them on by themselves (giving sis and I an afternoon away from them, as 11 days can be just too much togetherness) http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
