Hi all,
Does anyone know if you can make Pinnacle Grill reservations on line or by phone before the cruise or do you have to wait until you are on board? Have friends going on the Dec 30th cruise to Mexico and we are going on January 20th on the Oosterdam. Any info on the Oosterdam will be appreciated.:o
thanks,

Hi penny49 - I made reservations on the phone (there's a ph# on the HAL website for the Pinnacle Grill). You will pay for the $20/person dinner fee at the time you make your reservation. When you arrive on the ship, you'll get a card at your stateroom to confirm your reservation. We ate there on the 1st formal night of our recently completed Alaska cruise and it was just me and my wife and one other group. Later in the cruise, it was always busy. Bon apetit! Gene

The Pinnacle Grill was NOT busy at all on the 5/6 Oosterdam Alaska sailing. We ate there the first night. Christian was taking reservations on the Lido deck in the early afternoon before leaving Seattle. We had a great dinner and got back to our room to find 2 vouchers EACH from the TA to the Pinnacle Grill. (the gift of four bottles of wine should have been a clue!) By the last night in Victoria, they were getting a little slack and my filet came out well done.... and it was fixed. Christian (Romanian) and Fix (German) were our servers 2 nights and were charming and fun. The 3rd dinner server (Indonesian) was OK, nothing special.
It was fun on Friday when the Zuiderdam was docked next to us and the Maitre D' was waving to his friends on the other ship! And Christian had worked on the Norwegian Dawn, which made our docking in Victoria late  but he prefers working HAL - better pay.

We always make reservations via telephone before we cruise for the Pinnacle. The charge will go onto your charge card. I always take the statement along with us in case of a problem. Each ship is different. On the last couple of ships we did not get a confirmation in our cabin when we got on the ship confirming the reservations. We did go down to the Pinnacle to make certain that everything was all right. The day when we were to dine there, we got a card reminding us of the time.
