Looks like the airport is quite far from the pier. Is it a hassle getting to the pier? We've only cruised out of Ft. Lauderdale and are wondering if the cruise out of Galveston is worth the effort?

You actually won't be flying into Galveston. You'll be landing at either Bush Intercontinental or Hobby in Houston.
We drove down to Galveston last year (we live near Bush). It took us about 1 1/2 hours. Hobby is closer, but I'm not really sure by how much. Either way, it's not a bad drive at all.
