Lots of people recommend making reservations for PC dining as soon as you board. So the question is does Princess give you an outline of the nightly entertainment right as you board or do you have to wait for daily Patters to get the skinny? My problem is I don't want to miss anything so I don't want to make reservations that will conflict with some all-important something or other!!! Anyway, just curious, do you get an outline of the big evening entertainment right at first or not?

No. The big show is usually repeated later in the evening. The fun stuff like the Princess Idol, etc are done pretty late - 11:00 pm

One night the Princess Idol was at 7:00 and we missed it since we had traditional 6:15 seating. We were able to make all of the rest of the shows.

There is usually two shows a night one at 7 one around 10 that wayboth early and late get a show. There are Patters listed somewhere so it gives you an idea of the timings generally. Some of the shows will be the same as well like Lights, Camera, Action will be at 700 and 10 on different nights. But some shows like a certain comdian may only be once but it will show in the Patter as such so if you want to see him/herthan you will have to miss supper and eat somewhere else that day. Most shows are shown twice. The Piano Man is there all week he may start at 7 for 3 nights and the other 4 at 10 or it could be at 900 everynight until 11 or 12. The dancing usually does not start untill 10 pm or 11 pm.
