Are the suite amenities on the Prinsendam the same as the other HAL ships? The reason I ask is because the price is so much higher for an S suite on these ships.

Yes, the amenities are the same. Might the higher rate be because of a longer itinerary?

Prinsendam is usually HAL's most expensive ship. She is a smaller ship so it is a much more intimate cruising experience, she does wonderful itineraries to some unusual places and therefore I think HAL can demand a premium price.
We loved our 14 days on her a couple of years ago.

Just like said above - the Prinsendam is a smaller ship, does itineraries that are offered only once a year (sometimes some ports every 2 years) and is therefore more expensive. But the suite amenities are the same on all HAL ships.

Someone had previously posted that suite guests were invited to have breakfast and lunch in the Pinnacle Grill. When I recently asked HAL they replied that suite guests have a special table in the dining room. That doesn't seem like anything extra to me.

On (most) of the HAL ships, Suite Pax can have breakfast in either the Queen's Room or Pinnacle if they choose. (Which room varies by ship.) We always choose to Not do that. ;) We don't think it anything special. Actually, the few times we have had breakfast in either of the alternative locations, the service was so slow we never returned. The menu is the same as the dining room. We far prefer room service.
JMHO......

I agree with you, Sail. We only go a couple of times during the cruise because service does seem to be slow. But, it is nice to have it available if you want to use it. Also, it seems that this benefit was recently changed on the Prinsendam. I was wondering why.

I absolutely agree that it is nice it is offered and I very much would not want to see them stop making it available for those Suite guests who wish to partake. I know some people really enjoy the slow, leisurely breakfast they have in Pinnacle and I would hate for it to be taken from them. We normally get moving a little faster than that in the mornings.

Here's my problem. We usually take 7 or 10 day Caribbean cruises on HAL and we enjoy having a suite. This fall the Volendam price is $2,900 each and the Prinsendam is $4,300 each for a 10 day Caribbean cruise. We have been on the Volendam 3 times and would like to experience the Prinsendam. But, I have recently seen the suites on the Prinsendam and they are not as large as the other HAL ships and they are looking a little shabby. I know all the hype about the smaller ship and exotic itineraries but I don't think the Prinsendam is equal to the other HAL ships. I'm sure the ship was quite elegant in its day and the public rooms still look very nice. In any case, I am still interested and might go but I think we are not going to be able to get a suite this time. I just can't understand the price.
