Hi ,
How do minisuites compare to balcony cabins? Are they worth the extra $$$?

Absolutely worth it. Aside from having a nice cabin with a decent size sitting area, you have a full bathroom. A tub and shower, not the little tiny stall showers. I love the minisuites.

Minis on Princess are usually over twice the size and have twice the comfort of their balcony staterooms. Well worth the investment unless you only plan to use your room to sleep and change clothes in.

Go for the mini-suite. We agonized over this decision the first time we sailed the Golden Princess we opted for the mini-suite. So glad we did. Much more cabin room. And as others have mentioned, the bathroom is such a good size with a full size tub. Even if you prefer showers, it gives you so much more room.
While the balconies are slightly smaller with the mini-suites, we figure how much balcony space do we really need? We entertained 6 adults on our balcony fairly comfortably, so it was just fine.

Sailed in minisuite E728 on Grand & Balcony room C526 on Golden. Personally, for only 2 people we enjoyed the Balcony on the Golden. It was located on the Caribe deck & was bigger ( 9 x 9) than the minisuite balcony (6 x 9) on the Grand.
Now the only draw back for us was, my DH is 6' & 230 & the shower in the Balcony room was small for him ooppsed to the minisuite full bath w/ shower!
However, if that doesn't brother you the savings is significate! Also there are 2 TV's & couch VS the 1 TV chair.

We always book the mini suite. The problem once you have a mini suite you can't go back!

We had a mini suite on the Island, and it was because A) it was a 10 day cruise and B) we are a family of 3.
It was great!
My husband, who is a smoker, said he would want the balcony instead next time.
I said tough you-know-what.
