If you're flying in remember that the airport it really close to the port .
The Wyndham Airport is also a nice hotel. We'll be staying there in June before our CP cruise and like it because they have a shuttle that not only picks us up at the airport but will take you to local shopping areas as well

We have stayed at the Amerisuites on 17th the last 3 years and found it to be very nice. They will take you to the ship (for free) and it's within 2 blocks of last minute shopping.
Time until we leave on the Caribbean Princess Leaves

If you want to SEE the ships when they arrive at 6:00AM then I can highly recommend the Marriot Marina, south side rooms as high up as you can get. Great view, really nice hotel too.

We stayed at the Marriott Marina a couple of months ago. Absolutely loved it and will stay there everytime to FLL now. I love being right near the water taxi, that is so cool. But the real reason is this: I love picking up the phone and the operator answers "Yes Mr. Wilson how can I help you?" Great service there.

We also stay at Embassy Suites. Have had very bad service when we stayed at AmeriSuites.
I have also been to and would stay at he following: Renaissance, Marriott Mariana and Hyatt Regency Pier 66 (all of these are very close also).
You should look into Priceline. Have always gotten great specials here.

These are definitely not good rates. Should be able to get this hotel for half that on Priceline.

Roy,
We're sailing May 8th on Caribbean Princess. I went on Priceline.com and got four (4) rooms at the Marriott for $49 each. We are so excited about that. It took me several weeks to get them as they kept rejecting my bids. But we have had them confirmed for a month now. I'd advise you to check Priceline. I checked other sites (i.e. Hotels.com, Travelocity, etc.) and the cheapest rate was $175 per room. We are staying one night only, May 7th. Good luck!

I want to put in a word for the Lago Mar. it is right on the beach and I think that it is the closest hotel to the port entrance. We were on the beach in front of the hotel and all of a sudden a gigantic cruise ship emerged from behind the condos lining the waterway out the port. Very cool. We had a wonderful view.
We have a 2 room suite with mini kitchen, balcony and pool view for $169. The restaurant is very good, the location is quiet and the hotel staff are so friendly. we stay there for 3 days before the cruise to really get into a relaxed frame of mind.

What hotels will allow you to leave your car there for the week while you are cruising?

I believe Amerisuites on 17th will allow you to leave your car there during the cruise. Don't think they charge anything, but would double check that.
We have stayed last summer at Marriott Harbor Beach thru priceline for $65; at Marriott Marina pre-cruise for $50 (at X-Mas) and post cruise at the Yankee Trader for $70 all thru priceline. Harbor Beach & Marina were exceptional for service &nice rooms. E-mailed them our requests of non-smoking, rooms near each other & high floors so we could see the ships come in. Each request was granted cheerfully.

We used Pricline and got the Hyatt Pier 66 in February for $69.00/per night.
It wasn't in the tower, but overlooking the pool. The property was beautiful. We walked over to the tower building and had drinks in the revolving lounge, which has a great view of the ships. We were there about 4pm on Saturday and Sunday and were able to watch quite a few of them leaving port.

Helen We finally decided on Springhill Suites to leave the car. They provide shuttle to Pier but I think you have to pay $6 for the return to hotel. No charge to leave car for the week.

Thanks. Will look into Amerisuites and Springhill suites. Haven't done Priceline but may give it a try. How do you know which one you will get?
