We are arriving in Tahiti at 2:30 a.m. the morning of our cruise. I cannot sleep on planes and know I am going to be a total wreck by the time we arrive. I need a place to sleep(hopefully)from about 3:30am until about noon when we can go to the ship.Any suggestions ? ?

Did you book through Princess if so ask your agent if they are providing a room due to arrival time. If not go to the Hotel board and maybe someone there can help you with Priceline or give you their recommendations. Good luck. Have fun.

My wife and I stayed at the Sheraton last year as a pre-cruise package. We enjoyed it. beds were comfortable and a/c worked well.

We flew Air New Zealand from Australia and our plane arrived at 2am and by the time we arrived at our hotel it was 3am.
We stayed at the wonderful Le Meridien for 3 nights - including those few hours - before our cruise and enjoyed our stay there immensely.
Closer to the airport are the Sheraton and the Intercontinental. You will have to pay for a full night unfortunately, if you want a bed.
On our return, because we had stayed 3 nights at Le Meridien we were given a special deal of a day room from 1pm until we left for the airport at 3am for half the price of a room. We were very lucky and we were able to go to bed for a few hours.
Enjoy your wonderful trip. It is well worth all the hassle.

Ambien is our life saver on long flights. Nothing like sleeping like a baby and waking up without that terrible drug hangover from over the counter meds. Works great. Ask your doctor for a perscription.

Ia orana !
if you don't want to spend too much money for this short night, go for the Tiare Tahiti or the Mandarin. These 2 standard hotels are located in the city center, very close to the cruise ship pier and will cost you approx $150 for the night.
Hope this helps,
