If you have rented a car on Rarotonga which agency did you use and what cars were available? We would like a car not a scootcar or scooter. We are on the July 6th Tahitian Princess sailing. Jan

Thanks derf I checked it out. It sounds like they have only manual transmission cars available. Does that sound right? Jan

I rented a car from Avis on Raro. It had an automatic.
I can drive a stick just fine, but with driving on the left instead of the right, I found the automatic trans to be one less thing to think about.
Reserve a car in advance. I rented one w/o a reservation and was lucky to get a car.
And driving on the left was an adventure!

kb9mu Avis rents from the airport and from Avarua. Which is the best place to rent the car from? Is Avarua where the ship docks? Jan

We walked a block or so to the middle of town from the dock where there were several rental car agencies. I had to get a Cook Is. drivers licence. Avatiu Harbor was the location.
