Hi Everyone, I just wanted to ask some questions so you can all help me to decide on what crusie to choose.

1: If I choose a Mini-Suit instead of a Balcony room, does the Mini have any extra perks?
Like stocked Refrig.?
Butler?
VCR/DVD?
Fruit?
Flowers?
Or anything else you can tell me about this room. I just want to see if it is worth the extra money to get this Suit.
I would get one in Mid ship. I know it is bigger and wider them a Balcony room, but tell me all I would need to know.
Like is it more of an open Balcony then a reg. Balcony room? (I like the sun).

2: I have been on the Grand and loved it. I do like the bigger ships better, but I do like this itenerary better. 10 night Southern Caribbean on the Dawn for next Feb. 2005. I will try the Personal choice dinning this time for sure. What I want to know is,
I love the Spa pool on Grand. Is there anything that compars to it on the Dawn? (I have a bad leg and have to walk in to the pool not back down it.)

3: Internet room: On the Grand it was bad. The hours were really bad and never open when I needed to get on. And the pursers desk was always crowded anytime of the day or night, I only got to use lap top a couple times. So my question is:
Does the Dawn have a internet room? If so, is it open 24/7?
What deck is it on?

4:If I pick a Balcony room instead of a mini. Does anyone have a preference of,
Location?
Deck?
Size? (any slightly bigger)
More open? (for sunlight to get in)

Was the activities good?
Good entertainment?
Activity director good?
Bands, singer?
Layout of the ship good?

Sorry for all the questions. But I can not make up my mind. I need your help. Should I choose ship or itnerary, that is what is holdng me up from booking.

Thank you all in advance.

Sue, in order to get additional perks, you'd need to book the Category AA full suite. The AB and AC minis do not offer the perks you're looking for. No butlers on Princess at all any more. You can get fruit in any cabin http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The midship AC minis have a very similar (though larger) balcony to the regular balcony cabins. If you're wanting one a bit more open, though not necessarily with more sun, I'd opt for the aft ABs.

As I recall, the aft pool on the Dawn is fairly shallow and easy access - stairs rather than ladder. It's not large, but may serve your desires.

All the standard balcony cabins on the Dawn are identical. The only difference is the balconies on Caribe have a slightly smaller "opening" (think window in the hull) than those on Baja, Aloha and Riviera. None of them are really good for sunning like on the Grand Class. My preference is for those aft on Aloha for easy access to the aft fantail deck back there which is rarely used. Comfy loungers, easy access to the spa/pool decks via the outside stairs and nice and quiet. Also nice are the forward balconies on Riviera for easy access to the pool decks as well.

Hope that helps a bit!

Had about 6 computers with 2 -3 working most of the time and very slow connections. Believe it was open 24/7 know it was at 8 AM and 10 PM on our 3/28& 4/4/04 cruises. They also had lap tops available at the Purser's Desk to use just in that area because of the reception.

Typical activities which will vary with the cruise directior, itinerary, and anticipated make up of cruisers. Entertainment is a personal preference but we enjoyed it for the most part. Bands & singers are another personal preference and we have enjoyed others more. The Activity director was fine. We liked the layout of the ship but we also enjoy sailing on the Sun Class ships.

Hope this helps.

Sue,
Make sure you check out the other threads about the Dawn Princess. Tons of information has been put up there.

I was on it April 11-18 this year. It was a great ship, especially for my first cruise. I cannot wait to go for another.

I found the entire ship to be very accessible even though I did not need any special accomodations. The only pool with stairs is the aft spa pool though.

I had a Caribe balcony, which had a smaller opening off the side of the ship than the higher decks, but it was still great. I might try for a higher deck next time. Can't afford a balcony so I cannot help you with that. We had fruit and robes though, and always had clean glasses and ice in the fridge.

The cruise directors were fun people (John and Scott)... the shows were good too. Hard to find deck chairs on the at sea days, which was disappointing since I had heard so much about the deck chair police warding off the hogs.

Would definitely cruise on the Dawn or her sisters any day!
