I read how you (Kletskop) said the Bike and Hike did not meet your expectations. My dh has booked this excursion while my children and I do the sea otter boat trip. He tends to get sea sick and liked the idea of the bike and hike. Could you explain a bit more about the problem with the bike/hike. Also, were there other non boat Skita excersions others seemed to enjoy a great deal?
Thank You very much!

Just like i stated in my previous post. They pick you up in a van and take you to some industrial place were you get a short instruction on how to ride a bike. All bikes are mountain bikes and very new. All are 21 speeds.
Scenery? not realy. Wildlife? none. ride along the shore? If you call riding on a road that is under construction with loose gravel and you get a glimpse of s small like riding along the shore.
Do not let there picturse deceive you. They are far from it.
Also do not eat at van Winkles near the pier. The service sucks! 1 waitress for a full restaurant . Takes about 1-1/2 hrs to eat. To much of a time loss.
Your husband will probably not get seasick on the otter tour. Take some bonine a couple of hours before getting on the boat.
Again I strongly dicourage anyone going on the bike and hike. But who am I?

Last time we were in Sitka my wife did one of the boat/wildlife things and I went to the National Park that is walking distance from the dock. It has a small museum and a number of walking trails-all free. There is a stream going thru it and both times I have been there salmon have been running. Sitka also has a nice internet coffee place about two blocks from the dock at rates about 1/5 those on the ship.

Thank You both very much! He will likely not appreciate the Bike and Hike if that is what it is like andinstead prefer to walk a nature trail alone. I wonder if you can rent a bike on your own? Has anyone seen bike rentals?
