Are there vegetarian menues on Princess? From the look of the regular menues-there is not much choice, only one meatless entree all week, and even though Fett. Alf. is wonderful, I don't want it every night. Thanks for any input.

Go online to the Princess Personalizer and let Princess know you have a special diet. They will try to accomodate you.

On the left hand side of the menu there is a listing for "Always availble items" there is also a "vegetarion choice".The vegatarion choice was different each day as I recall.
I promise you won't starve as there are 4 courses each night( not including dessert!) so you may end up with 2 soups and 2 salads , but depending on how strict you adhere to your diet( soups are often made with stock) you should be fine. You are also able ot order "sides" of veggies in adddition to what is offered. One man at our table ordered and recieved string beans and mash potatoes each night regardless of whether they were on the menu or not! Have fun!

If you get a chance, try the risotto! It's on the 'regular' side of the menu, and it's good!

Thanks-I knew I could count on all of you for quick answers. This is our first time on Princess--Celebrity had a different veg menu each night and Carnival was some great- some whatever. My daughter and I are strict, and I do love the fruit soups, and I've yet to be hungry on a cruise-ever!!!
Thanks again

Oh yeah--Mashed potatoes and risotto sound great, not to mention pasta and fries. Can you tell that I have also been off carbs in preparation for this cruise?!

You might also like Princess' pizza -- I can't see why you couldn't ask to have a slice without the meat toppings. One of my favorite Princess salads is just Romaine lettuce with grilled veggies and carmelized onion dressing. I'm sure they'd make that into a main course for you. There are a number of veggie pasta dishes -- marinara, arrabiatta, primavera, etc. Some of the quiches are vegetarian (some have seafood, though.) California roll might pop up when the sushi is out.
And, of course.....I believe all the desserts http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif are vegetarian (if you don't try to figure out what they greased the pans with or don't eat honey.)

You can order a veggie pizza. I was next two two guys who did just that. They said it was very good. I asked if they were Vegitairns and they said that one was and the other was a pretender.

Oh yes I forgot about the pizza it was great, they ALWAYS had a plain cheese one , as well as a meat one, plus I had the veggie one and it was great, artichoke hearts, tomatoes and mushrooms, YUM, and I am not a vegatarion AT ALL!!
PS if you don't eat meat and you don't eat carbs what does that leave?

As you can see from the many replies, you can eat very well as a vegetarian on board. As also mentioned, only you know how strict you are. However, as a lacto-ovo vegetarian I have found that I fare very well on Princess. If the vegetarian choice for the day wasn't what I would like, I was always able to request something I would like. The only problem in requesting something different is that you do need to have an idea of what you would like to have so they can make it for you. When I did so, my meal and my DH's came together and it never took an extraordinary amount of time to get them.

Princess is wonderful for vegetarian and vegan cruisers. If you want something from a previous night's menu, just tell your waiter or the Maitre D ahead of time and they'll make sure it's prepared for you. You can even ask to see all of the menus for the cruise (or, depending on the length of the cruise, several days ahead) and pick or modify pretty much any item on any menu. You can ask for something without sauce, for instance. They are very, very accommodating.
I do recommend that you plan on eating breakfast and lunch in the dining room where you'll find more options. If you eat in the buffet for lunch, othing I loved on the Island Princess in the buffet area was a salad bar where I could make a chef's salad from a wide range of vegetable, cheese and other toppings.

Thanks, Fuzzzy for the wonderful list of veggie items. I love everything vegetarian EXCEPT eggplant. On those nights, I will want something different. The veggie pizza sounds great, but can that be ordered in the dining room?

Princess is wonderful for vegetarian and vegan cruisers. ....I do recommend that you plan on eating breakfast and lunch in the dining room where you'll find more options.....On the coral and dawn princess, at least, the vegetarian selections in Horizon Court were varied and excellent...the selections were actually more appealing to me than those in the dining room, and it was easier to sample a variety of salads and side dishes with out going through a lengthy explanation. Even when we didn't eat in the buffet, I usually at least checked out the selections so I knew in advance what looked fresh and appealing.

Has anyone been on a Princess cruise, specifically the Coral Princess recently as or travelling with a vegan?
