We signed up for our Alaskan cruise, our first, in Aug of 05. We didn't know what we were doing, but a balcony room sounded perfect.
Well, now I've discovered it's right over the casino.
Has anyone here had a room over the casino, how much noise was there? I'm such a light sleeper I'm afraid we made a mistake.

Although we have never had a mini-suite, those who have had them have reported that you do not get any noise from the casino. Remenber that there is a "false" ceiling above the tables where the cameras are and I have never seem people screaming and yelling in the casino.

You will love your balcony cabin in Alaska.

You have chosen wisely.

We just returned from the Volendam. I was in the casino many evenings and even being RIGHT THERE it was never noisy. Quite a quiet place as a matter of fact! I wouldn't worry about it. Enjoy!

BasenjiMom,

We have a Verandah cabin on our 34 day Veendam cruise and I never thought about noise coming from below. I have been in cabins where the noise from the top deck can be heard, mainly early in the morning when the deck is being cleaned and the chairs are being moved.

I am sure that both you and I will not hear a thing. I have never heard anyone yelling out in the Casino.

Thanks everyone, good to hear more than likely it won't be a problem. I guess maybe I'm just looking for things to worry about. Yesterday there was a show on the Travel Channel and they were talking about earthquakes in Alaska, with resulting Tsunamis. My kids are teasing me that they're about due for another one!
