We have a group going on a 2-day Red October tour of St. Petersburg during July. Any recommendations for a specific tour guide who you liked would be appreciated.

BeBe,
I'd suggest you give Alla a chance. Go to her web site and see what you think...

When we used Red October in 2004, our guide's name was Alyona (Helen). She was a former flight attendant for Aeroflot and she was great. If she is still there we would highly recommend her.

:) What is your itinerary? Do you have room for 2 more in your group?

BeBe,
When are you going? If your cruise is the one I mention in the title, do you need two more to join you and share the tour? Please reply!!:)

Not the same cruise as yours. Our group, assembled from this board, is now 8 -- and perhaps 10. I suggest that you contact Red October by e-mail at its address in Russia. They say they put groups together.

I think most of Red October's tour guides are named "Alyona," "Elena," or some other derivation of "Helen!!!" About half a dozen other RO customers were given a guide with that name, yet all of their physical descriptions were so different! :D

In June 2004, we had a guide from RO named Ekaterina. She was very good, her Mother had been involved in the restauration of the Amber Room in Catherine's Palace, so we had some first hand info on that. Efficient and knowledgable.
