View Full Version : sending postcards from Alaska
April 28th, 2004, 09:53 AM
Can anyone tell how much in stamps it cost to send an postcard from Alaska to the states. I would like to get the stamps before I leave and are there boxes or places to mail them on the docks close to where the ships are. I thought maybe it wouldn;t take as long to get home if I could mail them myself. Thanks to evveryone this board has been great in planning my trip.

Well, Alaska is a state ... so it will be the same as at home, 23 cents. The ship will mail them for you in port, so you don't need to bother with it. However, mail drops are fairly handy on shore.

I know that Alaska is a state but I thought since it has to come through Canada or a different route it might be more. Thank you all for your information.

The ship usually has mail drops near the pursers desk, however if you drop your mail off in a regular mailbox on shore it will be processed faster by the postal service.
