has anyone ever had any luck getting upgraded by being on a waitlist for a higher catagory of cabin or suite once they have made a deposit on an existing reservation? We are willing to pay the higher fare.

From what I've read on these boards, the best plan of attack is to check the Celebrity website yourself on a daily basis to see if new rooms become available. Unless your TA does it for you daily that room is up for grabs by anyone who sees it first and reserves it. Once you see what you want either reserve it as a "courtesy hold" or call your TA or Celebrity if it is still during their normal business hours. I'm on a waitlist myself and I've been checking daily and have seen several new rooms become available on our "sold out" cruise, unfortunately not the category I want - either the very top end or inside cabins. :p

Sure, even after final payment, all you need do is ask if you know of an available cabin you want or they can check for one in the category you want or put you on a waitlist.

Also, consider asking for an upgrade or waitlist immediately after boarding. Cabins are often available then. A ripple effect happens when others are upgraded to unsold suites, CC, balcony etc. The price is often much better than purchasing the same type cabin prior to the cruise.

We were on a waitlist after boarding and upgraded from a Guarantee Balcony to a Concierge Class (CC) in a better location for a total of $10 for the cabin per day.
