I was wondering if the dining times are ajusted if the ship is in port. I will be on the Noordam in July in the Med. Most of the ports have a departure time of 8 pm. Do most people eat in port or do they leave to get back to the ship?

From my experience they don't usually change the dining times.
It was changed once on my last cruise by 30 mins when it was formal night to have the two early seatings at the same time. (i think it was so they only had to do the announcements and baked alaska dance once per seating)

Just back from the O...

They did adjust dinner on our Victoria visit. We were scheduled to dock at 6:00pm. They moved early seating to 5-5:30pm (leisure dining on the Oosterdam) and second seeting was open seating at 7:00pm.

Some of the other ports conflicted with dinner times, but there was no adjustment.

Departure from the port isn't the same as a late arrival (such as in Victoria).

I have never found the dining times to be adjusted due to a later sailing. Remember, if you are sailing at 8:00, then the all-aboard is 7:30. Half the guests have late sitting anyway.
The early sitting passengers either have to return to the ship early, make a reservation at the Pinnacle, order room service, catch a slightly later dinner in the Lido, eat ashore, or skip dinner and wait for the late-night buffet. One of the disadvantages of early sitting, IMHO.

We have never had the dining times changed whenever the ship stayed in a port late. But that can always change.

Another reason we prefer the later dining seatings.

Good question. I don't believe that they do adjust. I am looking at this now. We got the first seating lower for October. I personally do not want that (but it best when traveling with child). I am determining what we will do. Sea days, first and last days are no issue. We are in port from 2-10 one day, so we will either eat in port after excursion, eat in cabin or do Lido. At least one of the other two nights we will eat in Pinnacle.

Hello. We just returned from the Volendam and had a 9:00 pm departure from Juneau. Dining was changed to open seating... just as it is for breakfast/lunch in the main dining room. It worked for us, no complaints.
