What is your favorite place to view Glacier Bay on the Zaandam? What other places on the ship are "little known" for good viewing? I found a site several months ago that gave interesting places on the ship, but I cannot find it now.

We will be sailing out of Seattle on June 16. Can't wait!

My favorite outdoor spot on that class of ship is gone now - it used to be the crescent of deck in front of the gym on Lido Deck forward which has now been enclosed by that ugly extension.

The crescent below the bridge on Verandah Deck forward is still there - and provides a similar view.

But best of all is one of the barstools around the circular bar in the Crow's Nest - with a hot chocolate & grand marnier!

we viewed the glacier from our suite --- i was out on the verandah with my camera and my dw was on the sofa covered to her neck with a blanket drinking hot chocolate and eating cookies and looking thru the open door

I really enjoyed freezing my tail off on the bow of the ship, I got tons of pictures and I liked being there with the other brave souls.
I loved the sound of the people oohhhing and aaahing, and the disappointment when the glacier fell on the back side and we couldn't see it.
I loved the feeling of jealousy when I heard someones kick-a$$ camera taking about a hundred shots a minute!
It was great!

There are so many good places for viewing at any of the glaciers---and suffient time to sample them all---that it's hard to pick one out as "best".
For outdoors I want to add Lower Promenade Deck to the list. It's low, making the glaciers seem more massive. Being low also has the advantage of letting you see the baby seals with their mommas on the ice floes.
Beyond that, there's the advantage of being able to get from port to starboard to port to..., well, you get the idea, easily as the views change.
There's also opportunities to block the wind, should it become too strong.

Now indoors there's the Crow's Nest for fabulous views. But don't forget the Lido. (I shouldn't tell everyone this, but) in the Lido there's a spot on each side where the deck juts out. There's windows there giving the lucky few who get the chairs the best seats in the house.

The best view we like for viewing the glaciers is from our verandah. DH will go get us a couple of spiked hot chocolates. But we do have to go to one of the decks for a short time so that he can have his Dutch Pea Soup.

It is a shame that they have taken away so much of the observation area when they added the new spa and gym.

The Zaandam is in the same class as the Amsterdam and there is only a very tiny area right outside the gym doors where you can view anything. Can't even walk from port side to starboard side.

Thanks for the help. This will give us a chance to check out these spots before we arrive at Glacier Bay.
