Going on the Ryndam July 9th. Can you leave your child in Club HAL to go on an excursion for a couple of hours? Thanks.

Hi Mrmac:
I have not yet travelled HAL with my family; we're going on our first cruise in August. However, I recently did a ship's tour of Zaandam while it was docked in Seattle. While on board, I requested a copy of the Holland America Youth Program Guidelines from the Club HAL staff. This is what the Guideline brochure stated:
Port Day Activities
"Activities will be offered when in port from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Sign-up is required for the port day activities by 8:00 pm the night before. Sign up forms will be available in the Youth Centers. A lunch service is available for those attending port day activities."
According to HAL's website (http://www.hollandamerica.com/onboard/kidscruise), Club HAL program hours may vary based on age group, number of children on board, and staffing. Perhaps you could check with Ship Services at (800) 541-1576 for information specific to Ryndam. Have a great cruise, and I hope you find the answer to your question from HAL:)

How it worked on the Volendam this past February is yes, you can sign your child up at Club HAL while in port. Please do this ahead of time so that the counsellors know who will be there at what time.

Club HAL does offer activities on Port days but it is by reservation only. I believe they asked for you to sign up by 8:00 p.m. the night before if you were going to leave your child on port days. They also stated that if no one RSVP'd they would be closed.
Hope you have a really good time!!!
