Hi everybody. I have a few questions that I hope you can answer about the Tahitian Princess cruise to the South Pacific. Some say its a beautiful place to cruise. They also said that they brought there kids with them. What activities do they gave for kids? and its it boring for teens on the ship. Thats all I have for now, but feel free to tell me any other information that you might have abouth the Tahitian Princess. Thank you and have a great day http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm interested in hearing an answer on this question for some friends, as well. I have heard this is not a cruise for young children, as the facilities on this small ship aren't like the ones on Princess bigger ships. When we went on this ship when it was Renaissance they had no children's facilities at all. I wish TV Cruiser would give his report from his April 7th sailing. He took his 3 young children and promised to let us know how it went for them. Maybe there's others out there that have taken younger children say under 10, that can respond. Thank you!

We were on the TP last October for our HM. There are absolutely no children's facilities/programs at all. Renaissance was an "adults-only" line, and Princess has not done anything to change that. Since Tahiti is considered a "tropical" destination, they require passengers to be at least 18 months old. I do believe if a certain number of children are booked for that cruise, they will assign some sort of "counselor" for them. However, if they are under that limit (as I suspect they are 99% of the time, as there was not a single child on our cruise) - there is no options for the children.
I would strongly advise you against bringing children. There will not be much of anything for them to do, plus I can't imagine the flight being too pleasant (hubby is 30 and dealing with him was hard enough http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif). Also, all the excursions that we took that involved water were for intermediate to advanced swimmers - I do not think a child could handle some of the currents. They would probably get a kick out of the 4x4 tours, but I do not know what the minimum age is for that.

On our sailing had one boy about 6 years old and the parents had him with them 24/7. He was darling and very well behaved. We couldn't help feeling sorry for the parents who continually were entertaining him. This appeared much easier during the day than after dinner when he obviously was tired and not easily entertained.
You might not find that having them 24/7 and doing all the entertaining is a problem but there are so many great ships with wonderful children's programs and baby sitting I'd look at them. Guess it depends if you are looking for a relaxing vacation or a family trip.
We also found the currents to be quite swift even near the shore in many places. I'd be continually worried taking them to the beaches and there is nothing else on the islands for children to do.

BJS and SOCCER,
Again, there is NO BABYSITTING, nor childcare for children under 3 (and out of diapers) unless the parents stay with the children. Children under 1 year (12 months) MAY NOT go to Tahiti. It is a Foreign Port. The 2-year-old may go, but the 9-month old must stay home for 3 more months.

If I were in the position of having or wanting to take young children, I'd put off going to Tahiti until they are older. While the Caribbean is not the South Pacific, it is still tropical and wonderful, and large child-friendly ships sail the Caribbean waters.

Good Idea, Gloria,
SoccerStar may want to try the Caribbean out of Galveston. It may be a closer port than FLL; however, more limited in dates, although a great itinerary.
