I thought some of you might enjoy my short (YES, SHORT!) home videos of some of the gorgeous scenery. The camera was new and I really had not practiced with the movie feature of my digital camera but decided to try. I really am glad I have these short clips.

Whenever you see a black screen with a click sound that is when I took a still shot. Sometimes it was hard to keep it still as the wind was blowing or I had on gloves and if I took them off my fingers were frozen --- I should say I just wanted to give everyone a sense of being on the ship!!!

I was just really lucky to have the camera in hand and poised as the calving started in Glacier Bay. We were on our balcony and it is funny to hear how excited my DH was - I was excited too but I was holding the camera!!

I did not realize sometimes I had the camera verticle and not horizontal:o ..... It was really hard to take video on the glacier with those huge gloves they gave us to wear....so now that I have made all these excuses you don't even want to go see them!

Also, if you do not want to hear the comments of others around me - just turn your volume down ... then it really is more peaceful experience :)

Thank you so much for sharing these amazing videos with us. We leave on Friday for our Sunday sailing on the Veendam. Now, after watching these videos, I don't know if I can stand the wait. Thanks again! I hope we enjoy our cruise as much as you seem to have enjoyed yours.

Hoosier...... I hope you have a wonderful vacation next week! We all would love a report when you return!!

Karen...... at least yours is not over already! You are still in the wonderful anticipation stage -- I hope you will report so we can compare the different seasons of Alaska.

Den - after all the movement I am sure you are glad they were short! :D

Thanks for sharing, I really enjoyed watching them. I will definately be giving the "chef's dinner" a miss!

Perhaps you might want to share the post in the Alaska forum, I'm sure people interested in Alaska for whatever cruiseline would enjoy.

Well, that is one response I did not expect! LOL! Did not mean for anyone to avoid entertainment aboard due to my videos...:p But at least everyone can be forewarned if that sort of thing does not float one's boat...;)

I will try to post in the Alaska forum upon your rec - thanks.

Yep - that's the same ole bird!!! He must not move at all - just sits there and poses for all the cruise ships -- and makes us each think we are "special" to have seen an eagle on an ice berg! :D

We WERE lucky to have seen so much calving and I was lucky to have my frozen fingers in place to push the button! ....at least for the ones we saw off our balcony. :)

My husband must have said "holy mackeral" a million times! He was in awe - and I got a million gold stars for having planned this entire trip! ;)

thanks, Lisa, for posting that gorgeous photo of our bird.......
