A few months back I decided to call Princess and order the Alaska companion and have it sent to our house..no go...they weren't available yet...call back in April.

So I ordered one 2 weeks ago and arranged to have it delivered to our cabin. Charge showed up on my credit card already.

But I saw on the Ports of Call board that someone tried to order it and were told they had sold out http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

I'm pretty sure they'll sell it onboard, but I just want to make sure I get mine. Should I bring my credit card statement just to ease my mind? I have no other proof since I ordered via phone.

Hi Roo. Can I ask what the Alaska Companion is? http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

There were tons (as in hundreds if not thousands) of books on our Alaskan cruise last year.

They probably don't keep much stock in for the winter season.

It is a great Alaskan book written specifically for cruises with lots of history, a great map which you can follow on the cruise, information on what you will see on specific routes (sailing between ports), etc. .

That what's I was thinking Coral....I think just having the 1st cruise of the season had me nervous...hey, it's just a few days before I leave, I'm thriving on being nervous about stuff LOL

I'm really excited about the map..I've heard you can essentially figure out exactly where you are and what wildlife to expect in that area http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I didn't buy one last time but wish I would have. Will definitely be buying one on the next cruise.

I read the same thing on the Alaska board - did someone say there is a new version coming out? I wasn't quite sure.

hmmm..maybe that's why there's been delays etc. That would definitely make sense

That is awesome. Nice to read about, but to be able to follow it in real time while you are living it is quite incredible.

I called Friday and the rep told me that they would have them the first week of May. She said to call then. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Roohound the last part of your query. Yes, take your statment as proof, if it has been delayed and you no longer want it as a momento then cancel it well on board. But they may have shipped to your house in the mean time. When it comes send it back unopened, register mail, write cancel please on it.

Hopfully a Hawiian Cruise

I ordered one in advance of our May/2002 trip and read ahead. Then our TA had surprised us with a free copy on board. I shared the extra one with friends on the ship. We used the book again in May/2003. My husband had to remind me a few times to "watch" the marvelous scenery going by instead of reading about it as it was passing.
