I have this suite booked for an Alaska sailing later this summer, and can't imagine why it was less expensive than a much lower catagory of cabins that are not suites. The various internet companies as was as HA had this cabin along with five or six others on the same deck priced lower than smaller cabins. I am thrilled at the price, but cautious, wondering why it is priced lower. I thought it might be handicapped, but it's not shown as such, or located with horrible noise/view issues, but can't find out. Any help would be appreciated.

We had cabin 6060 on the Oosterdam in March 2004. It was, at least at that time and I can't imagine it's changed, an SS category cabin and it was not handicapped ready. I believe it's now called an SY but that's still a superior verandah "suite". You can see some pictures of the cabin from my old Oosterdam photo album at: http://photos.yahoo.com/randyk_47

I should have added that we thought it was a very quiet cabin. Being located more or less in between the elevator lobbies people didn't wind up walking by the cabin all the time. The verandah was OK....not huge, not tiny and offered about average privacy. I mean it's a big enough ship with lots of verandahs and people can see other people if they look. To get a really private verandah you're talking full deluxe verandah or penthouse suite category cabins. As I remember above, below, and beside are more cabins and we didn't notice much, if any, noise from our neighbors. We haven't been back on the Oosterdam, or any of the other Vista class ships, since that cruise but certainly wouldn't hesitate to book cabin 6060 again.
