We are going on our honeymoon in December. We are tossing over the maasdam, spirit NCL, or Coral princess. Wich do you feel is better for a honeymoon couple. We are interested in a suite and want a crowd not too far from our age group (28). We also want a really nice ship with good food. Seeing that this is our honeymoon we want to go all out!!!Can you help me with your knowledge of these cruises...pros and cons. Thank you so much

I can speak from personal experience that the Maasdam is a fantastic ship for a honeymoon. We sailed her a few weeks ago on her Canada-New England itenerary.

Lets see....you want...
1) a crowd not too far from your age group (late twenties)
2) a really nice ship
3) good food

I can tell you the Maasdam will deliver everything you could possibly want on points 2 and 3, but not point 1. We're in our late 30s and we were among the youngest people on the ship. So, if the age thing isn't too important I say go for the Maasdam! Otherwise you may want to consider something else.

Have sailed many times on the Maasdam. You will find the suites much larger on the Maasdam than on NCL or Princess.

Yes there will be an older crowd. But will you really notice how old everyone is if you are on a Honeymoon???!!

The Maasdam will definitely have an older crowd, but....

I'm reminded of my '02 NE/Canada cruise on the Rotterdam---definitely an older crowd. Anyway, I got friendly with a young (your kind of age; we didn't exchange birth certificates) honeymooning couple. They were having a wonderful time. They mixed and mingled with everyone.
Does age really matter that much?

We were on the Maasdam for our 5th anniversary and yes, it is an older crowd. We're both 31, and we were some of the youngest on board. I mean, I didn't do any statistical research or anything :) but I would have to say on this 11-day trip, about 50% were 55 and up, 25% were 40-54, and the other 25% was 39 and under. From what I understand, shorter trips tend to have a younger crowd.

That being said, we had a fantastic time, made some great friends (that were not in our age bracket) who we keep in touch with. We would both do it again in a heart beat.

BUT if it is important to you that you have more people around 30, this may not be the ship for you.

If I had my choice I'd take the Coral Princess. Have sailed on both the Maasdam and most recently the Coral Princess. The Coral is a beautiful ship, you won't be disappointed.

Whatever you choose, happy sailing!
