We are scheduled to sail on the Oosterdam this coming December. Can someone please tell me how many ports are a tender? We are going to Cabo, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta.
Thanks.

Cabo is a tender port for cruise ships.
Puerto Vallarta - this varies according to how many ships are there. A third pier is being built. But this past year the Oosterdam had to tender there most of the time.

Thanks Krazy Kruizers. Do you know when the third pier will be complete? It would be nice to be docked since we are there till 10:00 pm.....easier to come and go.
Thanks again!

They were working on it when we were there in November. Unlike our unions they were really wokring around the clock. Since there aren't ships going there right now, none of us knows how it is coming along and unless someone who lives in Puerta Vallarta sees this thread.

Just read this today....
The Puerto Vallarta Port Authority (known locally as API) says they anticipate the completion of both a third pier and the reconstruction of an existing dock by December 2006, which will give the facility the capability of simultaneously welcoming three cruise ships with lengths of up to one thousand feet each.

Fitters, just a heads up for what it's worth; both tender operations in Cabo and PV are fairly short transits - 10 minutes tops

That's a new one to me. Interesting! The entry into the Marina is pretty narrow. I kinda doubt that they have room to build one there and/or for a cruise ship to maneuver. If they're going to do it they would probably have to built it somewhere out of town

I think Copper's right about a pier in Cabo - it'd have to be a way out of town.
Now another pier in PV - THAT would be nice! Though I love tendering, at low tide in PV, the tender had to dock next to a smallish yacht-like ship, and everyone had to get off the tender onto this other ship with a very low ceiling, and essentially duck our way across that ship to get onto the pier. Not the most elegant solution! Only happened once; coming back the tide was higher & everyone boarded the tender directly.

You're talking about cross-decking. We had to do that too in PV in FEB, also due to tide

Copper 10-8 (aka John): Actually I liked crossing aboard U.S. Navy ships, because when I was on active duty, the PA system would announce "Colonel, U.S. Marine Corps, crossing!"
