Hi All,

I have carefully gone through HLA's website but still have a few questions. I sent an email to HAL's Guest Relations with my questions and received the following automated response:

"Due to an overwhelming surge in our call and e-mail volume, we are unable to respond to your query. We ask that you visit our website at www.hollandamerica.com (http://www.hollandamerica.com). Our website has undergone some recent changes to better serve you, including a search feature. This source includes much of the information normally requested of our reservation division.

We are focused on insuring necessary resources are established to respond to phone calls and e-mails in a timely manner. We truly regret any inconvenience or frustration caused by this unforeseen problem. Thank you again for your patience and understanding."

I was hoping someone out there might be able to help me with the following:

Does the Zuiderdam have a Loft or only a kids HAL Club? My 14 year old nephew is traveling with us and I wanted to let him know. Second, how do you arrange for a birthday cake? Is this possible? My Dad's birthday is the during our trip. Third, I have seen the wine order sheet, but are there any packages or multi-bottle discounts? The form isn't very user friendly.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciate. We are sailing the Inside Passage Alaska from Vancouver on 22 July.

Thanks,
Vicki

I'll answer the one I know: Birthday cakes are super easy! Just ask the dining room supervisor who is in charge of your section (and your waiters). He should introduce himself on the 1st or 2nd evening, if not, ask your dining room waiter to get him for you. They will also sing "Happy Birthday" in Indonesian

Easy as pie.

You could have your TA make the arrangements before you even leave home. Let him/her know what day you want it served. Double check with the maitre d' after boarding that the message was received loud and clear.
If it's not possible to order in advance just speak to the maitre d' when you board.

The Zuiderdam does have the Loft for the teenagers - it was added Dec 2005.

When you get to the ship you will either get a form concerning a wine package or you may have to go to the wine bar area and ask for the "Wine Navigator Package" - it contains a list of about 12 different bottles of which you can purchase 4 or 6 for a certain price.
