We are sailing on Caribbean Princess 10/2. We live in Savannah, Georgia which is a approx. drive of 7 hours to Ft Lauderdale. We can not leave till 11:00 on Friday Evening. But many of us does not want to wait till morning and have to drive into FLL Saturday afternoon. What my question is how early can we board on Saturday. We are mostly Senior and would love to be able to board early and have time to nap before the afternoon sail away parties begin.

Most of the ships that I have been let you board around 12:00 p.m. but there have been a few times where I have read that it could be as early as 11:00 a.m. all depends if the staff is ready for you and going through customs from the previous passengers. One passenger can hold up the whole ship. So it is hard to tell you a direct answer. Sorry http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

you can figure between 11:00-12:00.

you'll probably be eating your first of many meals around 11:30.

On the Golden in March we arrived at the port at 10:30. There were about 300 people already there and waiting. The opened the gates at 11:30 and were in our cabin by 11:45

A lot depends on the sailing, On our first Diamond, there was a big group of visiting TA's that were boarded ahead of PAX that put things about 30 minutes behind.

lately in fort lauderdale and both times out of S.F. They didn't start boarding until Noon. If you get there early, you will stand in line for a much longer time. If standing is a problem then wait about 1/2 to an hour later. There have been handicapped people early expecting "early check-in for handicapped". Remember, they have to get the rooms ready for us. When they use to board early, they would just tell you that your cabin was not ready yet and you could go eat or go to the pool. (It seems we all want to get on early and not give up our rooms til the last minute"
