Ok, we are packing for a long trip(tour days on each end of the 12 day cruise) and the wife would like to know if O has a deal for laundry. I will not let her do it herself and she will not pay a high price for each piece of underwear. So, do we pack assuming no services available or do they have a way to do laundry for a bag price or something like that?
Thx for the help.

There is laundry and dry cleaning service. They will have a bag in your stateroom and a list to fill out. If you're in the Penthouse you will get 2 free.
There is a very nice laundry on each ship... very clean. Cost is $1.50 for each .. the dryer and the washer. Get the tokens at the reservation desk. No detergent is necessary as the washer automatically dispenses it.

Some of the mass market lines do, indeed, have "bag prices"; Oceania does not. We're always in the "same boat", so to speak, regarding pre- and post-cruise stays plus 14+ day cruises on Oceania. We would MUCH rather pay the per-piece price for their excellent laundry service rather than schlep tons of extra skivvies, socks, etc. And - I've even met some wonderful folks in O's laundry room, while doing a load or two myself and giving DW a break.

While we were concierge, but not penthouse, we had 4 coupons for "free" drycleaning, or 2 each. Maybe that is what Paisley 12 meant. Even the dry cleaning we paid for was reasonably priced, no diff than what we would pay at home, maybe 10 or 15 cents on an item, but we were shocked in a good way. It sure made a believer out of me that we lugged way too many clothes. Next time I'll be smarter. Especially since I got clipped $25/each on 2 suitcases by the airline after I loaded up w/gifts. I can't remember what one single person wore on any given evening, or if they wore the same thing on every evening. (I take that back, I do remember the obnoxious man in the pink sweater with a dirty mouth!) One out of 600+ ain't bad.

Pa Nana...The guy in the pink sweater did his own laundry - threw his white sweater in with his red flannel nightshirt and - voila - a pink sweater! Maybe he needs to wash his mouth out with laundry soap.

Mike - There were actually 6 in the obnoxious group and that was our only encounter with that type of folk....so 100 wonderful to 1 beastly would be odds you would be hard-pressed to find anyplace else. "O" does attract great clientele. For many and good reasons.

As Mike and PANana have already stated, there is no "deal" on laundry on Oceania. Since your wife wants to enjoy her cruise - and who wouldn't? - you would send your laundry out on an as-necessary basis. There will be a laundry bag and list in your closet - but, sorry - I really can't remember the "cost per piece" - it's close to what you might pay at home and they do an excellent job.

It will be returned to you either late the same day or the next day....

Have a great time..... :)

We just got off the Insignia. The costs for laundering were about the same in hotels - several dollars per pair of underwear and socks, and $3-$5 for each shirt or pair of pants.
The self service laundry is a nice concept, but there were always people waiting for machines, as there were only about 4 washers and dryers for the whole ship.
I should not admit this, but we washed out items in the sink - the body gel that Oceania puts in the cabin makes great detergent and then we let the items dry on the balcony. I brought along a clothes line that I bought online at Ricksteves.com and strung it between two chairs on the balcony. Luckily, our balcony was aft and metal up to about the waist, so nobody noticed, but even if they did, the ship sailed mainly to Italian ports and laundry on the terrace is the norm there.
We were next to the Owners Suite and when I told the occupants what I did, I thought they would laugh at me, but all they did was ask to borrow the clothesline.

P&O is the only way to go ! What can I say, I really hope and wish you have a great experience.

Washing - Us women are used it, although we don't look forward to doing on hoilday! If you are on a 2 week cruise, take two packets of tablets with your (four tabs in all). You go to laundry, put your washing in + tabs, go back in an hour and dry - good to choose a day at sea and get in early, although we had no probs with this.

Where are you going? we are very jealous - just back from Alaska on Celebrity Summit and it really doesn't have any bearing on a P&O ship (they should be classed as a "Celebrity" experience), apart from the ports of call - although we missed a couple, the sights were wonderfulo.

Anyway, let me know.

Have a great time, I'm sure you will.

P & O is not the same as Oceania.

Oceania is a cruiseline ships are Insignia, Regatta & Nautica

Oceana is the ship name in P & O fleet

We were in an inside cabin and there was a retractable laundry line in the shower area. I presume it is in all cabins. We bought blow-up hangars and knit shirts, etc. usually dried over night after washing them in the sink.
Actually we found we did not have to do as much laundry as expected as things do not get "dirty" as much as needing refreshed. Tale a small bag of your favorite grainular, not liquid, detergent and wash in the sink. Also look at Travel Smith or other catalogs or stores and invest in some quick drying items. We found "cool wick" polo shirts for sale for $8 at K-Mart. They dry in a few hours, certainly over night. Some even have an antibacterial finish to avoid "odor problems". I ams sure other stores have simular.

Like Jan, I have met some very interesting people in the self-serve laundry.

Im always amazed at the number of women who don't have a clue about using the machines, and end up asking males how the machines work! I guess they have maids/housekeepers who do it for them at home.
