We are traveling on the Caribbean Princess out of Ft Lauderdale, Fl and getting down their the day before the ship sails. Last time we went out of Ft lauderdale, we stayed at the AmeriSuites @ 55.00/night. Looking now they want over $125.00 for the night. Can anyone tell me other hotels down near the port? I know the Embassy Suites is also there. I looked at hotwire & Priceline but it looks like they can't guarantee where the hotel will be what hotel it is and if it will accomidate for a family of 4 in one room. Any help is appreciated!

We recently stayed at the Renaissance on 17th Street via Priceline. It's a very nice hotel, handy to shopping and restaurants, and you can pick up a shuttle to the pier for $3 pp.
Completed:
Sea Princess, Royal Princess, Grand Princess (3X), Caribbean Princess, Golden Princess
Coming up:
Tahitian Princess Oct 14/04
Caribbean Princess redux 6/25/05

If you go to the hotels board there is a wealth of info there and put the question on that thread. I will almost guarantee you will get an answer there.

Go to www.valuetrips.com (http://www.valuetrips.com). Don't know your dates but you should get Amerisuites for $69. - $99. Not necessary to guauranty the booking. Then you can look around for an alternate hotel and change if you wish.

Tory707,
I just booked the Renaissance for my pre-cruise stay in Nov. through Priceline and got it for $82.00. We looked at 4-star hotels downtown and bid 82 and got the Renaissance. Not a bad deal.

We always stay at the Ft. Lauderdale Marriott Marina Hotel. It's right across the street from the Port, and offers free shuttle service to the ship.

We booked the Embassy Suites on Hotwire because you can identify it easily. We also need a room pre-cruise for 4 and even if we end up with one king size bed, at the Embassy there is always the pull out sofa. It has been hovering around the $117 area for months now. If there were just the 2 of us I definitely would have booked thru Priceline.

Check out other posts regarding Fort Lauderdale hotels, many mention that Amerisuites is not a great place to stay.

Twocats and Troy,
We stay at Amerisuites every time we go on a cruise, and its a nice hotel, very clean and with in walking distance to grocery store or restaurants. I'm sure the other hotels are better in some ways, but do not be afraid to stay at Amerisuites!! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

We're on the same holiday cruise as Vicki and booked our pre-cruise at the Renaissance for $95 via Priceline. Not a bad price for the Christmas holidays. We've stayed there before and liked the hotel. LOVE the Mexican restaurant nearby!

Perky I know they take you to the airport so I would assume they would pick you up at the airport. Maybe Toto knows if she sees this.
Would not recommend the shuttle anyway. Get a taxi. Much faster, more convenient and under $10. for the cab.

I was rejected on Priceline 3 days ago. I was trying for September 24th for 3 rooms for our pre-cruise stay. I made a reservation for the Comfort Inn for $69.99 with a discount that I had, just in case. Today, I got an e-mail from Priceline telling me that it's been 3 days, so I can try again. I thought it would be fruitless but I tried again anyway. I started at $55 and was accepted on the first bid!! I got the Embassy Suites---all 3 rooms for $192.39!!! Needless to say, I was tickled to death!! I called them and requested doubles in all the rooms (wouldn't really matter since they're all suites anyway) and asked for a port view. They were real nice and he said he would put that in the computer too. Plus...they have a 24 hour shuttle---a major plus since our flight gets in late!!!
