Hi All..
Need your help!
I'm trying to get in a quick PacCoast cruise..but I really need to fly into Seattle to get an airfare that makes it worthwhile.
Does anyone know how long it takes to transfer from Seattle to Vancouver?
Does Princess offer this service as part of their transfers?
What other means (or is the best way to transfer if Princess does not offer the transfer)...cab, bus, shuttle....?
What would be the earliest flight we could catch if we needed to do this transfer?
Thanks for all your help!

I just used quick shuttle (I think) from Vancouver to Seattle on Sat. It is the cheapest way to do it and they pick you up at the airport and will drop you off at the pier. It was $36 and can take anywhere from 3-4 hours based on the time at the border crossing. I did a walk up, but reservations can be made as well.

The above is correct, but Crowsie, I would NOT fly in day off cruise, go one day ahead and see Vancouver for an evening what you spend in $$ you save in stomach lining and it is s gorgeous city.

We flew in to Seattle 3 days ahead of our cruise out of Vancouver 2 summers ago, so we could see the city. Couldn't get a straight answer from Princess on if we could pick up their shuttle to Vancouver at a downtown hotel, so we cabbed it back to the airport and took their bus. Got caught in horrible traffic, but it only took about 4 hours to get to the ship (that includes 15 minutes of the bus circling the terminal trying to find where we were supposed to go to get to the ship).
Coming back to Seattle we rented a car since we had an evening flight -- Princess would have gotten us back to the airport with 8 hours to spare. Car cost less than the transfer and we were able to see more of the area on our own that way.

Last summer 2003 we took the Amtrak from downtown Seattle to downtown Vancouver. It was fast (3 hours), inexpensive ($20-$25), comfortable, scenic and no border security delays (you do have to go through a quick customs line at the Vancouver station). The ship terminal in Vancouver is a quick cab ride from the Vancouver train station. Amtrak also offers inexpensive bus service if the train does not work for your schedule. Go to the www.amtrak.com (http://www.amtrak.com) site to see if this might also be a viable option for you.

Here is thier website:
Quick Shuttle (http://www.quickcoach.com/)
Its an awesome service. It takes quite a few hours, depending on the border time, so I also advise you not to do it same day as cruise departs. I also suggest you do reservation via phone, as they have some times available that aren't on the website yet.
Princess offers these transfers on the Alaska cruises, but not on the coastals. If you are considering a cruise where they are offered by Princess I would buy them thru Princess if you were going same day.
I just rode QuickShuttle last week and it was great!
Cheers!

The Amtrak trip is lovely! The timing might be a little awkward, though. It leaves very late in the day (5-ish?), which is great for spending one day in Vancouver, but it arrives in Seattle so late, that you'd probably have to stay overnight in Seattle and fly out the next morning. If that doesn't bother you, it's a great trip on the train!

We took the train home yesterday and it was pretty nice. The only hassle was that your bag CANNOT be over 50lbs. They will make you pull it apart and put stuff in boxes if it is over-weight. The scenery can't be beat though. Pay the extra $12 and upgrade to business class and you get first crack at everything (breakfast in the diner car, boarding and most important, getting off).
Its a little early, but it is the best way to cross the border as there is no line at all.

Yes! Apologies!! I think I misunderstood that the OP was traveling from Vancouver to Seattle because he said he was trying to get a quick trip in, and I thought he meant this month. The "reverse" trip from Seattle to Vancouver is early a.m., so you would normally spend the previous night in Seattle, if you fly in there and then take the train on to meet your ship in Vancouver the next day. Still a lovely trip that I would recommend!!

Well, the best way is the way I went today, when my Mom came and picked me and my husband up in Vancouver today, for the inexpensive price of lunch at Dairy Queen. But since that is no help to you at all, I would recommended how I am doing it this next weekend, the train is great! I too recommend the business class, we paid the $12 for it last May and it was aewsome getting on and off first! Plus, you get a $3 credit in the galley, so really it is like a $9 fare increase! ($32 total pp)

last year we took the Princess bus from Vancouver to Seattle Airport, it was terrible, we got stuck in the border line for about an hour and half and then stuck in traffic jam, some people on the bus missed there flights, we didnot get to the airport until 3pm, and all of Princess reps were gone from the drop offs, wwe did not miss our plane because we did not fly out until the next day, never again, unless I saved tons of money, we had been gone two weeks and were anxious to get home, if it is not that much more go out of Vancouver I would go for it

I have taken Quick Shuttle once- allow 4 hours- you won't make it if you fly in the same day as the cruise. But mostly I drive, I have rented from Avis, National and Budget- be certain to request a downtown Vancouver drop off and NOT the airport. I like staying in Bellingham the night before cruising- easy to get an early jump on the lines.

I don't get it. Why not fly into Vanouver? Seems alot of hassle when you can do it simply by 20 min air time. We just flew from Vancouver to Seattle, then Seattle home yesterday. Everyone I know that tried to save a few bucks ended up regretting it in time and effort. Check out Horizon Air - I think they have reasonable fares from Vancouver to Seattle.

Didn't you just LOVE that little cruise! We had such a FABULOUS time. I will for sure do that again!
We too did the same thing. YVR to SEA, then on to SAN. We had the 5:00pm out of YVR. Really could have done much earlier with as easy as it was to Princess transfer to the airport! But, who was to know. I'd rather be early, than stress about missing a flight.
