Hello!
We are getting ready to leave for Alaska Sunday on the Westerdam - have one more quick question ...
We purchased transfers from the airport to the port through Travelocity - I understand that we will meet up with a HAL rep @ the airport - but what do we have to show the rep that we actually pre-purchased the transfers?
As always ... thanks in advance for all of your insight!
This is such a great board to come to for answers and information! :D

We just returned from our cruise to Alaska out of Seattle on Oosterdam and we purchased transfers directly from HAL. In our documents we received from HAL there was a transfer slip to tear out of the booklet for each transfer.

Yes, you will need the transfer ticket in your cruise documents. Look page by page through the documents for this. If you don't have one, you'll need to contract the agency (travelocity) immediately. The HAL reps at the airport do have a list of those with transfers which they check off to make sure they've met everyone. However, the transfer will be required to get on the transfer bus (or if it is a taxi, to get the paid for taxi).

HAL has a way of hiding vouchers WAY in the back of the documents.

Have a great cruise!!

imo-------------fir what you paid in transfers you most likely could have a taxi from the airport to the cruise terminal for less then you are paying for the transfers and you wouldnt have to wait for the bus to load and then wait on the other end for them to offload the luggage in order to claim yours

Our family has recommended that we purchase transfers, but I'm not comfortable putting my kids in a vehicle without seatbelts with which to attach their car seats. Is it a bus w/ seatbelts, cabs, van no seatbelts?

Thanks!

The wait for a transfer bus to load everyone can be long. I wouldn't want to go through this or the scramble for luggage with small children in tow. I'd take a cab. Much easier.

Don't know what port you are referring to, but in Seattle I priced taking a taxi as compared to the HAL transfer and found the transfer to be a little less. I'm sure that you could have a situation where you may have to wait a while for the bus to load, but we did not have hardly any wait on either end (less than 10 min. at airport or pier). As to waiting for your luggage to be offloaded, one of the good things about transfers is that once they take your luggage at the airport you are through with it until it comes to your stateroom.

In Seattle, we were transfered on full size Greyline Tour buses. HAL ownes Greyline Tour Co. in Seattle and Alaska.

Hope you HAVE a REP meet you. On our first cruise a few years ago, we had booked our own air but bought HAL transfers. There was no one to meet us in Seattle and it took asking many people where the HAL transportation even was. With much perserverence, we finally located the bus and the driver was very courteous, and all ended well. However, that was not a very comforting beginning to our first cruising experience.

There are now signs in all baggage claim areas directing you to go to Door 00 from which you can see where the transfer buses are parked.
