Are there any separate private shower rooms for handicap near the gym on the Zaandam/Volendam and on the Westerdam?
Thanks,

After exercising, I always return to my own cabin to shower. I much prefer the privacy of my cabin to any public shower area.

To tell you the truth, I've never seen showers in the gym itself period, just a bathroom. Maybe someone else has? There are showers on one end of the Lido Pool. I too, head back to my cabin for a shower but only after jumping in line at the Lido buffet.......................ok, just kidding! ;)

I've never looked for showers but I imagine there are some that are used for spa treatments...... If, indeed, there are spa showers, they would not be available for people who have only used the gym.

Thanks for the replies.
On the Island Princess, there was a shower/ bathroom with a separate entrance off the hall near the gym for handicap. Not connected to he spa.
The reason I asked is because I may not get a handicap room for my Mom who is in a wheelchair. If there was a shower room like that it would increase the number of cabin options available to us.

There are showers in the gym/spa area - mainly used by those who use that area and the thermo area. They are small - not handicapped.
DH always just comes back to the room after working out.

Its funny......I have been on these ships before and I can't recall if they had them or not because I wasn't looking for them. Now that my Mom needs one, I have to ask here.

Sean, most of the cabins on the Vista class ships will not accommidate a wheelchair, so if your mom needs it to get around, and cant walk much, you should get a HC cabin. I wasnt real impressed with the cabin size or layout of the cabin we saw, bathroom was great! There are some aft cabin HC rooms, but I'm sure the price is alot higher.
For storage in those bathrooms just take an over the door shoe bag, it works really well for lack of space in the bathrooms or in general :)

Thanks Ziggy,
I am going to book one of the Cat H handicap porthole cabins on the Zaandam. I was just looking here to expand our options without spending hundreds more for the higher categories.

I like Hal best but Princess has the best HC layouts! And we have never had a problem with water running past the grills and needing to be moped up on either Hal or Princess, we were always impressed how it didnt do that :)
Anyway, I'm sure you will find something that works for you and your Mom, I think its wonderful your cruising with her! Have a wonderful time Sean!!!

Ziggy,
I wasn't as lucky with the drain on the Island Princess....I always managed to have some water all over the floor.
We did have a BA handicap and it was awesome!

To be honest, I really don't think ours was draining properly......there were times it looked like the water was setting in the channels. Other times I was able to keep the rest of the room dry. I know it wasn't from how i was spraying it for the most part.
