Is anyone else annoyed as I am that we have to constantly monitor the prices ourselves? Can't expect a TA to do this for everyone ---- but Princess should just adjust the price --- that would be nice!! (Years ago they used to do this - advance bookings were price protected--I remember about 6 years ago, my Alaska cruise/tour (with my grandchildren) was adjusted about 3 times without my having to request!!

I notice that you are all talking about price drops. How do you monitor this? My rate has been the same and I booked 2 months ago, of course we're not going until November. Who notifies you of the price drop and when?

Good afternoon!

With price drops sometimes I notice them by surfing different websites and other times I get an email from the current travel agent or cruise line. If I notice them first and let the travel agent or cruise line know it is alwaya adjusted. I have even gotten an adjustment after I made a final payment.

I do notice that if you stick with one travel agent religiously they will work hard for you to get the best price and the most upgrades.

I however prefer to surf the prices and go with the best deal because once you are onboard there aren't any differences from one balcony to the next.

We are taking our first Princess cruise in November on the Caribbean Princess.....

IF......there is a price drop on our cruise will Princess notify our T/A? Since Princess does not publish their prices on their web page, how does one check for a price drop?? With RC and Celebrity, you can check daily to see if prices dropped on the website.....not so with Princess.

Just want to make sure we don't miss out on any price drop, although I don't expect one.

Not really but my 6/26 CP balcony has not budged a penny.

Maybe because the sailing is sold out except for a few broom closets?

Question for those in the know: When a sailing is "waitlisted" on certain cabin categories, how long does the list get until that category is "closed"?

Apart from Mary notifying us of the price drops, I also call 1-800-Princess every month and give them my booking # and ask them if there is a price drop. I will do this up until the day I send the money. Does anyone pay early -- what would be the advantage?

Ok so what when you go to book you ask to be put on list for the cabins that are already showing taken but then also book your cabin you have chosen for the moment as well?? Sorry if I sound Niave(sp?) First timer for Princess and I am trying to absorb all the info I can just the normal Cruiser Addict behavior..hehe can't get enough!! I just check travelocity every few days. Their prices are the same as princess. If theirs go down (for the same category room I have) then I call Princess to see if i can get a price drop. Which on both times I have. Only problem is you have to do this prior to final payment. I also check to see what rooms become available. I needed another balcony room next to mine for my teens and one came up yesterday that wasn't there before. (i originally had an inside for them at basically the same price as the balcony is going for now)I don't think a ta is going to check this everyday which doesn't bother me because I check anyway. If you give me your date of sailing and room category i will check for you too.

Thanks for the info. I'll be on the same cruise! I booked just a couple weeks ago and I'm trying to figure out if the price has dropped since then. Does the Travelocity site include port charges?

Mary - Offtimes Princess has a better rate than Travelocity --and for sure your TA should have a better rate (especially if they have a group going) But I agree - I watch Travelocity for its "changes" - then I call Princess to ask for any new specials or promotions.... I saved more than $500 pp. a couple of weeks ago just that way ---Princess promo is now expired and prices back up. It's past final payment - but Maybe rates will go down again....I keep watching every day too.

immn - yes the price just dropped last week. Just call princess and ask for price of a room in your category and ask her to include port, taxes and insurance. i act like i'm making a new booking. if it's lower then call your ta.

gottocruise - thanks for the info i didn't know that. seems like price drops at princess are the best rates for me right now. ta doesn't seem to be lower.
