I'm really sorry, but I have to ask this. I've done a search, but haven't found what I'm looking for. I've heard that there are "issues" with Amerisuites in Ft. Lauderdale. Would like to have opinions about Amerisuites vs Hampton Inn. I'm going to be recommending a place to stay pre-cruise to a group that we'll be travelling with. I want to try to give positive info.

Thanks for some info.

Hampton inn is a good brand and they are currently going thru a system wide upgrade of their properties.

For hotel reviews to go Tripadvisor.com (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g34227-Fort_Lauderdale_Florida-Vacations.html)

I live in Plantation, Florida, just west of Fort Lauderdale and I'm not sure what "issues" you're talking about. However, when people come to our office in Plantation and stay overnight they said that Hampton Inn is much nicer and didn't care for the Amerisuites. The Hampton Inn in Plantation is very nice and about 2 years old. The Amerisuites is older and only partly redone. I'd stick with Hampton Inn.

We used to stay at Amerisuites several times each year. About a year or more ago we stayed there and it was really looking run down, so we started staying at the Embassy Suites.
This March I could not get a good price on a pre night stay so we again went with Amerisuites and I was surprised that they seemed to be cleaning up their act a bit. Didn't have a problem one staying there and we just hiked across the parking lot for dinner at Outback that evening.

Always stay at the Amerisuites, 1 -2 times a year. I personally don't see anything wrong with it. Granted it isn't quite what the Embassy, Renaissance or Mariott is but for the price we think it's a good value.
I've seen some postings here that refer to it as a dump. It's certainly not that. Also it's close to the port and within a short walking distance of a large shopping centre, liquor store and several restaurants, etc.
Only way to find out is to try it for a night or so.
BTW you can leave yur car there while on the cruise.

Thanks so far for the info. Really appreciate them. Now, let me ask you, has anyone stayed at the Sleep Inn? It's new, and I can get it for about $35 less than Hampton or Amerisuites.

I stayed at the Amerisuites last year when I drove down, specifically so I could leave my car there. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it. Just a basic hotel.

This time, I'm staying at the Marriot Marina, which I got for $50 on Priceline! Can't beat that!
