Are the mini suite balconies as large as the Caribe deck balconies? And are they covered or uncovered? We will be sailing on the Island 10/6.

Thanks

All Dolphin deck mini balconies are open. All Emerald deck mini balconies are covered. No, they are not as large as the Caribe deck balconies. But you get a sitting area and a full bath with a mini.

39august, I am new to these boards I have some questions. We are booked in a mini on the Diamond Princess (Dolphin D618) Oct/04 for our wedding. Family/friends are joining us on this cruise, should I consider asking my TA if she could get us upgraded to a mini on the Caribe? Is Caribe more?

blueeyedangel-There are no mini suites on the Caribe deck. There are only balcony rooms which as noted above do not have a full bath or a sitting area. However, the balcony is half covered and half open out toward the railing. So you have some privacy. Since the balconies are so big on Caribe, you could use the balcony as your sitting area. You could ask your TA if there are any mini-suites available on the Emerald deck. If you opt for the Caribe deck, your price will be less as you will not have a mini-suite. Welcome to these boards. And what a great place for a wedding!

question regarding the coral princess-

what do you mean by half covered - does this mean you can see down into the balcony from up above?

I was told all balconies on the coral are covered for privacy

While I am not an expert, we are on the Coral next April. Through research (we want a fully covered balcony) it is quickly seen that there are many cabins that are partially or fully overlooked.

I know through these boards that these balconies are "heaven" for some cruisers. But not for us. Hence the joy of "cruise study".

blueeyedangel..we have just got off the Diamond in Seattle. The Dolphin Cabins and balconies are amazing. If I were you - do not change. The cabin is large with a sitting room, bedroom and bathroom with a bath and shower. The balcony is open but if you're cruising Alaska it doesn't matter at all - the more sun you can get the better. The balcony is much larger than Caribe - it's great!!!!

zebra...What location on Dolphin deck were you? We're currently booked in D732 because I thought those "open" balconies would be a bit more private than those under the pool areas where there are a lot of open decks.

Also, did you find trash coming down onto your balcony? I've read that on various posts and am considering changing to Emerald deck (except Club Fusion is just below and am concerned about noise).

Thank you for any help you can give this first time Princess cruiser!
