I get emails all the time asking if there will be another Hounds cruise in 2005 (yeah, some of us are really addicted!)
I've been sniffing around for a month now trying to come up with something really cool that everybody would like and I think I"ve finaly found it!!!
We've sailed the Carnival Glory (Glory Hounds).... We're sailing RCI's Mariner of the Sea (Royal Hounds) this Fall, it only seems fitting that we kick it up one more notch and bring the party to the **NEW** Caribbean Princess! We were docked across from the Grand Princess (sister ship) last time in Cozumel and that ship is GORGEOUS! I have set the ball into motion to create the first Cruise Critic group on this amazing new ship and hope all of my Hounds friends will come along for the 3rd Annual Hounds sailing! I also want to invite anybody who loves to cruise to join our group. We just simply love to cruise and love cruising with other fun-loving cruise addicts! Come on, you know you wanna go!
More info on pricing to come but for now let's all mark our calenders for 9/17/2005 and plan to be in Fort Lauderdale!!!!!! Here's a peak at the eastern itineray:
1 Fort Lauderdale, Florida 5pm
2 At Sea
3 At Sea
4 St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands 7am 6pm
5 St. Maarten/St. Martin 7am 5pm
6 At Sea
7 Princess Cays, Bahamas 9am 4pm
8 Fort Lauderdale, Florida 7am

Pammy... you do realize that the Caribbean Princess is not a sister ship to the Grand? It's not a Grand-class ship. That said, I'm sure you'll have a great time on her. We're sailing on 12/26.

The Caribbean Princess is considered a "Grand class ship" - just a little modified.
Same type ship as Grand/Golden/Star, with an extra deck of cabins and some modified interior areas.

It's okay that it's not exactly the same, I'm sure it's the new and improved version! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif No matter what it is, it's GORGEOUS and I'm gonna sail her!! You just haven't cruised until you've cruised with the Hounds http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif If you want proof of what a fun group we are, check out our group page for the 9/19 Mariner group, there is a link to our group board below. Hmm, hubby and I were planning a late September/early October cruise on the Caribbean Princess. If it was just a tad bit later in September (although September 19 isn't totally out of the question), we might be interested. Do you know when pricing for Fall '05 will be out? I've been checking, and haven't seen any pricing from Princess yet.

JerseyGirl, I hope to have our group pricing and package info soon... perhaps early next week. These things can take time as we want to make sure we get the pricing and ammenities possible. We have once again chosen to work with Crucon and Debbie assured me she wanted to come up with something special for our 3rd annual cruise!
Although we haven't ruled out changing the date, the 3rd week of September has been our cruise week for the first two and it has worked well. Of course we hope everybody can join us but we understand it won't work for everybody. I'm just hoping we've planned far enough out that people can make plans to join us!
Details to come.... stay tuned!

the Caribbean Princess is indeed a Grand class ship except they modified it by adding another deck (this deck is an all balcony deck). thus increasing her size by 7,000 gross tons. The hull (which you classify a class of ship by) is exactly the same. Though some names of restuarants have changed and improvements on lay-out were done it is indeed a Grand class ship. Go to the princess website. There are only 3 class ships in princess now. "Grand, Sun and Royal. Even the new sapphire and diamond are grand class the change is that skywalkers has moved 75-100 feet forward of the stern.

Well... those things you mentioned are very important but we get a few more perks and benefits too! Generally we have GREAT pricing, better than you can get on your own. Cruise Critic gives us some little freebies which are nice. We're getting the logo'd lanyards for my upcoming group. Last time we got pins and luggage tags.
I can't say for sure what benefits Princess will be... but... Often times will give a group a free cocktail party and even shipboard credit! We got $60 in shipboard credit when our group sailed on the Glory and the Conquest. The benefit package can be different with each sailing /date.
Also, you get ME http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif ha ha... But seriously, I put HOURS AND HOURS into these groups, if you want proof, check out the Royal Hounds Group board to see all the stuff I have planned. Some people really enjoying participating in group activities, some just book for the great pricing and perks! Either way, it's a a great cruise! If you've never tried cruising with a group, you ought to try it, it's so much fun! Everywhere you go on the ship you run into other friendly faces from your group. That's the best benefit in the whole world to me! Cruising with my friends!

Pammy, as long as you don't go too far into October, I really think the end of September, very early October would work out fine for us. Actually, we cruised September 21 last year on Grand Princess and had absolutely fabulous weather. And the Eastern Caribbean is my favorite. I didn't realize the pricing would be out within the next week or so.
When you obtain pricing, will you also be able to get pricing for mini-suites, as well as balcony cabins? And if I might make a suggestion, for the balcony cabin category, how about pricing for those on Caribe deck? Tbose are the largest balcony cabins.
This just may work out perfectly! We were planning on the Caribbean Princess for September 2005!
I can't wait to pass along the info to my sister and her husband, as they would probably join us!

Pammy, oh no! That late into October won't work for us! Hubby can't take his vacation then...even the first week of October would be pushing it, but October 15 probably won't work at all. Oh well....

Okay, spoke with hubby last night, and he said October 15 wouldn't be totally out of the question. A little harder and possibly not doable, but it's not a definitely "no go." I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.
Pammy, one thing you might want to ask whomever is handling the bookings. That time of year is notorious for price drops as the cruise approaches. How will they honor that if we book as a group? Sometimes if a price comes down but you booked as a group, they won't honor the price reduction.
Just something to think about.

Well, I sent in my e-mail this morning to book for me and my two buddies!! Unless something very drastic happens between now and then, we will be there!!!
I just loved the Grand Princess (my very favorite ship so far) and know that I will fall in love with this "sister" ship as well.

Those prices are just so dang good but I'm already booked on the Valor Vampires about a month later...of course if I could buy future cruise credit when on the CP next month, use that $100 for deposit then get the $100 cabin credit AND the $50 cabin credit you get with a future cruise purchase onboard then I might just be able to make that work....not sure who I'd go with but it sure looks good!

Nikki, the way the onboard open booking works is that you can put down a $100 pp deposit and you don't have to allocate a TA, ship, itinerary, date...nothing. You have four years from the date of deposit to book another cruise...you don't have to cruise within four years, just have another cruise booked.
When you are ready to book the open booking for a specific cruise, you just let your TA know the booking number, and they can price the cruise for you. And that $100 deposit carries over so you don't have to put down anything until final payment. In addition, depending on the type of cabin accommodations and length of cruise you book, you are eligible for anywhere from a $50 to $200 per cabin shipboard credit.

Cool, so the onboard credit is for the future sailing?? So basically while onboard the Caribbean Princess, Alika and I deposit $200 ($100 each) for any future Princess sailing (within about 4 years). Then when we decide which ship, itinerary, etc, we don't have to make another deposit? Then when we are sailing on that cruise we get an onboard credit?? Wow, why would we not do this? Listen up hounds! This sounds like a neat plan http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Yep, Nikki, that's exactly right. Actually, I think on the Caribbean Princess Group cruise, my husband and I are going to make two open bookings! It was nice booking the group cruise and not having to put down any deposit (since I already had down the $100 pp deposit from the open booking...even if it wasn't a group cruise and a regular $250 pp deposit was required, we wouldn't have had to put down anything additional...they accept the $100 open booking deposit until final payment...really nice with cruises longer than 7 days that require hefty deposits). And now we have not only the $100/cabin shipboard credit from the Hounds cruise, but we'll be able to "cash in" on our other $100/cabin shipboard credit from the open booking. The first $200 we spend on the Hounds cruise will be on Princess!
