Palermo and Palma de Mallorca ports

Please give advice for these ports.. Which ship excursions, or on our
own.. what not to miss at these ports.
Only 2 of us, private tours appear too expensive for 2 people.
Aug.29th out of Rome. Thanks for any advice you can give us.

Palma has the large cathedral and maybe a castle if I remember correctly. We took a bus east to the beach area and spent a relaxing day at a nice beach, a welcome break from the constant touring/walking involved in a Med cruise.
