has anyone been to the mexican riviera on
the diamond? would like to know a little
about it. also, any hotel recommendations
in L.A. would be helpful.

Yes been to the Mexican Riviera on Diamond but also on other ships, not much differnce in how you get there. There is a lot of information on the ports of call board under Mexico if you want to talk about a port or tour.
There are a number of park and sail packages near the Long Beach or San Pedro pier, I understand the Sheraton is amongst the best.

I would not recommend the Best Western at San Pedro. Someone there, the restaurant next door, or from Super Shuttle stole my CC # about 3 years ago! Those were the only 3 places we used our card in that area. I least suspected the restaurant, due to taking my card to the counter to pay, and it not leaving my sight. Leaves someone at the hotel or Super Shuttle.

We enjoyed our stay at the Sheraton in San Pedro. It's right across the street from several piers and an ethnic market/dining area that is quite unique. At the time I remember being on guard for our personal safety around the hotel but the hotel itself is very nice and has excellent room service!
We were sailing on the Carnival Ecstasy at the time for a short spring break cruise. It was one of those hotels that you can see your ship from. I love those.
