We will be taking the Barcelona to Venice cruise on the Regatta in October. There are many ports, and I wonder how many will require tendering. I suspect many of them will, but if anyone knows we would appreciate knowing.

We did not do this exact cruise but we did sail to many of these ports on other Oceania cruises. We tendered in Amalfi, and docked in Barcelona, Marseilles, Monte Carlo, Livorno, Civatevecchia, Corfu, Venice and Dubrovnik. We have not been to Sete, Sardinia or Sorrento aboard an Oceania ship. Maybe others can help.

We were supposed to tender in Amalfi, but docked in Naples instead.
We docked in Barcelona, Corfu, and Venice.
In Dubrovnik, we tendered to the old city, but during the day the seas got rough, and the ship moved to a dock in the newer part of the city. Oceania provided a bus to the dock.

You'll definitely tender in Portofino. Takes about 5 minutes to get in, with no to minimal wait for the tender.

Marienbad,
We're on the same cruise with you. There's a roll call thread over on the roll call boards. Not very active right now, but there's a number of people on it. Come on over and join us!

As we visited Dubrovnik onboard Oceania, we were supposed to tender in Dubrovnik. Infortunately we docked. So we had to take public bus for heading downtown (ca. 20 min) instead of tendering into the town.
Besides, you will tender at Sorrento, Amalfi, Portofino.
Don't be afraid of too much tendering. On our tour they changed at least three ports due to high swallows.
As the cruise director stated: "We cannot control the sea, but we can control your safety." Hahaha.

At least with Oceania, they seem to get you off the ship pretty quickly, with only 684 passengers on board. I hate to think what would happen if a ship had to tender 1500 people off - but then maybe the larger passenger ships just don't go to places where tendering is necessary - don't know!

Davidmaveng -
I noticed you hired a driver for Amalfi, did the coast and met ship back in Sorrento. We'll be doing the same thing - our TA said as long as we let the purser know we wouldn't be on the ship when it leaves Amalfi and would be meeting them in Sorrento that it wouldn't be a problem. Did you have any trouble with this? Thanks!

We advised the purser of our trip and he said no problem. Take in the gardens of Revello (sic), they were beatiful and the town center is just a relaxing joy. The town of postitano has a main street that is one way, you have to make plans to meet your driver along the main street. The most unusual thing happened to us during our drive, a funeral took place along the street we were driving in the countryside, right out of the "Godfather" funeral in Italy, (Michaels wife) the little band played, and the mourners walk behind the car, we thought it was not right to take pictures, a lasting memory, enjoy the tour & Oceania

Davidmaveng - Thanks for your reply! We are really looking forward to this tour!
I've seen several mentions of ship's tours passengers having priority for the tenders. We will be taking several of these, but are also arranging our own tours in several ports. I assume because the Oceania Regatta has fewer passengers getting off fairly quickly won't be a problem when we need to meet a private tour guide. How are the queues for tenders set up? Has anyone had a problem with this? Are the private tour guides used to waiting a bit longer for their guests?

The ship size and the capacity of the tenders, got us off within 20 minutes.

The private drivers are aware of the tender situation and the time it takes..don't stress.
