NEED HELP - TELL ME SOME GOOD THINGS ABOUT THIS SHIP -

I HAVE POSTED BEFORE AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED MANY GOOD RESPONSES....

I CAN'T BELIEVE THERE IS NO "NIGHT LIFE" ON A SHIP OF 2,000 PEOPLE

HOW ARE THE SHOWS

STILL LOOKING FOR ACTUAL PATTERS FOR THIS SHIP - I KNOW THEY ARE BASICALLY ALL THE SAME BUT LOOKING FOR SPECIFICS.

WHAT ARE GOOD TOURS TO DO IN PANAMA CANAL AND COSTA RICA

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

CAROL

There's been plenty of comments on the board regarding the Coral Princess. We just came back from a 15 day repositioning cruise and I had so much wonderful and helpful information from this board that I felt like I'd been on the ship before!!
Night life is available in all forms. There are venues all over the ship to suit anyone's taste. PIano players, string quartet, jazz trio with a wonderful singer, Broadway style shows in the theater and Universe Lounge and a DJ every evening till the very wee hours. If you can't find entertainment on the Coral then you aren't really trying.
The Patters aren't going to do you any good because the entertainment changes so often. The groups come and go all the time and they all have different contract lengths. They always have, in addition to the above mentioned, comedians, magicians, singers, ventriloquists etc. As I said, no reason to be without amusement.
Maybe a better way to find out if the Coral is for you is to be more specific about the types of entertainment that you are looking for.
As for tours in Panama and Costa Rica there are sites elsewhere on Cruise Critics that deal with the actual destinations.
Happy Sails

We did the Panama Canal on the Coral's sister ship the Island Princess. It is my favorite class of ship. We did the jungle river cruise in Costa Rica and loved it. We stayed on the ship for the Canal transit but two of the more popular tours are the boat tour that takes you all the way through the canal and the train tour that goes the lenght of the canal.

It depends what you are looking for in the way of night life. There are shows, bands, comedians and lounges to sit and drink. If you are looking for a packed disco rocking until the morning you not going to find it on a 10 day canal cruise. My wife and I are in our 30's and had a great time.

By the way typing in all caps means you are shouting.

We were on the Coral just this last Feb through the panama canal and as for excursions we took the boat ride to the rest of the locks and ended up in Panama City. Wonderful excursion. Some also took the train ride and they said it was great. As for Costa Rica, we also took the jungle cruise. When it gets to be around 60 days from your cruise you will receive an excursion booklet telling you all about the excursions. In the meantime you can go to the Ports of Call board and go back a few months and you will see all kinds of things about Panama and Costa Rica. As for entertainment, we don't do that too much. Like the others have said there has been all sorts of info regarding the Coral but you have to go back a few pages to scout them out.

Hello to everyone that responded

that you for your help in answering my questions.

I guess what I was looking for (my husband) is lively dancing to modern music or DJ's.

Sorry for the caps - I did not mean to yell

I sailed with meemeec and agree with what she said. I liked the ship (and crew) so much that I added 2 days on after the FLL to San Fran Canal trip and just I booked an Alasakn trip on her at the end of the month. There is something for everyone, just have to find it. I really enjoye dthe Jazz trio in the Bayou, but they are getting off in August.

As for COsta Rica, I did a tour with several other cruise critic friends and did Ziplining in TuruBari ecological park. If that is not for you there were other options like horseback riding through the same operator. I do not remember the name of the company, but Mitch is the CEO and you will find more info on the Costa Rica board in the Ports Of Call.
There are some picts of the tours on my webshots (kkorman1) link below.

Do you consider ballroom dancing lively http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

There was a decent band the played rock music in the Explorers lounge but I never saw anybody dancing. They quit around 11:00 at which time the lounge supposedly turns into a disco with a DJ but I never saw anybody dancing. Keep in mind this class of ships does not have a dedicated disco like the Grand class.

True. On the 15 day PC cruise, there was no one but the same 10 people i the disco late at night. On the 2 day from SF to Van there were about 100.
