I have been reading up on cruise wedding and am very excited by the idea. The problem is that I don't know of anyone who has had or has participated in a cruise wedding. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. We haven't yet set a date but it will be sometime next year. Thanks in advance. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

We were married on the Island Princess last year. It was perfect. If you have any specific question I'd be happy to answer.

We got married on the Carribbean Princess and it was an awesome experience. We had 14 people there. The ceremony was on a day at sea at 2pm. which was great because everyone was dressed up for formal night. We had the photographer take pics of us both during and after the ceremony all around the ship. The captain followed the program we had created perfectly and was willing to accomodate our ceremony. He was fantastic. At 3pm we had a private reception which cost us 187.00 total (13 adults and one child). Afterwards we had the captains party and dinner afterwards. A wedding cake was brought to us after dinner which was quite romantic. The evening was wonderful w dancing and several activities so no one was bored. If I had to do it over again I wouldnt change a thing.
Congrats on your engagement and I wish you lots of luck http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

My husband and I (celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary yesterday, as a matter of fact) were married on board a Carnival cruise. It was the absolute best way to get married. Everything was perfect! We had 52 people attend our wedding, and then sail with us. We all flew into Miami the day before, stayed at a group hotel, and my husband and I hosted a dinner party for everybody the night before the wedding. Then we boarded the ship the next a.m., and the wedding was performed before the ship left port. The 1 1/2 hour reception followed the ceremony, and then we all went up onto the Lido Deck when the ship sailed. I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Hello Scott,
Thank you for your response. I see that many people are interested in cruise weddings as well by the number of hits my question triggered. Was you wedding at sea?, Was it private (just the two of you) or with a wedding party? How were your accomidations and overall experience?... This would be our first cruise!! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I was wondering about the child in your wedding party. I have children listed on our wedding party list and was a little concerned on what their experience would be like. The Carribbean Princess has been recommended... what is your opinion on this ship since this would be our first cruise and I would like to make the best possible choice? Did your guests sail with you or just attend the wedding and reception at the boarding port? Did you use a wedding panner?... anyone you can recommend?

OrlEngr,
Thank you for your response.
I was wondering if you opted for a port wedding or a sea wedding? Which port have you chosen? Will you be busing your guests (if this isn't a private wedding for two)?
By the way,..... GOOD LUCK!!! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

A sea wedding is soooo romantic! My husband and I were married on the Grand Princess in November 2001 and I can say it was sophisticated, classy and romantic. Rather than have a large wedding at home we opted to have 10 family members and 4 best friends for a week of memories that will last a life time. My daughter is now considering a sea wedding too! The best is the wedding coordinator does it all for you so you wont be so stressed. Definitely an option, a small church wedding can come later or before http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Can anyone tell me how cost effective it is to have a cruise wedding with a party of about 20?

We did it on the day the ship departed Ft. Lauderdale. It was just the two of us and we had the ceremony on an aft deck overlooking the water. Really everything about the whole day was perfect. Princess and The Wedding Experience did an outstanding job in making things perfect. They were on top of everything. For instance when we returned to our cabin after the ceremony the name tag on the door had already been changed and ballons were hanging on the door. For us it was a totally stress free way to do it and also cost effective considering your honeymoon is built in.

We are doing our wedding at sea ... It will be just the two of us. We decided to take this approach so weather would not be as much of a concern and so we could enjoy the ports.

Our wedding was on a day at sea so the whole party attended the wedding. The child in our wedding was my stepson and that was his second cruise. He is 9 and was on his first cruise when he was 5--he absolutely loved it. They have a great childrens program from early ages on up w lots of activities. The kids start anywhere from 9 or 10 am and go until noon --then they go from 2-5pm and start up again around 7pm until 10ish. They have activities like carnivals -- they play games -- the kids have their own pool -- and they do lots of other activities. Some of the activities w the younger group of kids include the parents if they want to attend and participate. We did more activities w Alex when he was 5 --- of course as a 9yr old he could join the group at anytime and sign himself in and out -- he felt he was too cool to have parents around http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
On port days they will watch your kids for a small fee --- however on Princess Cayes they will take the kids for the day and do island activities w/ them. I absolutely loved the ship not only because it was so new, but because they had much to offer people of all ages. We wanted to go away for our wedding bec. Cleveland weather is yucky at times --and on the cruise everyone could do their own thing--the kids have much to do and u dont have to have someone watch them all day long -- there are always other kids onboard it seems no matter what time of year you go so they wont be alone. For our planning I called Princess and talked to their wedding dept. Casyle? was the one who coordinated our wedding and she did a great job. We had our program all made up and she accomodated us with what we needed and went from there> I think Berta? is the one who helped organize our reception which was in the wheelhouse lounge. It was supposed to be for an hour however we were there a little bit longer --they didnt chase us out and let us finish up on our own time. Anyway, over all we had no complaints from anyone in our group--As for Alex? He is ready to jump on the next cruise at a moments notice --hope this helps http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I attended MissQuito's wedding and it was everything she said it was. The captain performed the ceremony and did a magnificent job.
