We have booked the Southern Caribbean on the Dawn and are wondering if the balconies can be opened to the room next door? We are on the Baja deck if that makes any difference.
Thanks for everyone's help.

My understanding is that the door between the balconies can be opened by your steward. We are just off the Dawn on Aloha and it looked like that wouldn't be a problem.

Sue,
How was the Dawn? We booked her for 10 day Western in February. Last time I was on her she was brand new and beautiful. I'm taking about 10 of my friends with me so I hope she is just as beautiful as she was then.......

Absolutely! The balcony doors can be opened by your room steward!! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
We've used that open balcony as sort of a "living room" with our friend beside us! Wonderful!
The Dawn is one of our favorite Princess ships -- perfect size!

Let's put it this way, Karen almost had me in her suite because I didn't want to leave!!! The service was terrific, the itinerary was super, the ship was beautiful, and 12 days wasn't enough! You will have a marvelous time! If you do traditional dining, watch for Agnes. She was the best!!!

Do they still have a steel drum band playing each afternoon next to the pool? Are the steel drums on Southern Caribbean cruises, or just on the Dawn...........or are they no more? I really enjoy the steel drums! I know this sounds crazy but the ship with the drums will probably be my next cruise. (January, 2005???)

We were on the 4/4 sailing of the Dawn (So. Caribbean itinerary) and there were no steel drums, only guitars.

Hi. I know this may not be the best place for my question, but I'm having trouble posting a new question (but for some reason I can do a "Quick Reply" ????). I am on the Dawn Princess in early June (going to Alaska) and I'm wondering about getting cash while on board. Does anyone know what the charge was for the ATMs? I beleive you can write a check at the Pursers desk. Any other options? Also, if one has been to Alaska, what has your ATM experiences been there? Fees, etc. Shhould I just get Travelers Checks? Thanks so much for any and all help.

No steel drums on the Canal transit, even though we stopped throughout the Caribbean. The band on deck was pretty good, though!
Kim, I can't help too much with your question about the ATMs as we took travelers checks and some cash. It was incredibly easy to cash the travelers checks at the pursers desk, so that's our plan from now on.
