We are on Insignia 3Aug and we are looking for advice/suggestions on excursions in Gdansk, Riga, Visby and Tallin from you more experienced cruisers. We are all set in St petersburg. Really appreciate any help.:)

I've been to the Baltics twice but haven't visited Riga, Visby, or Gdansk. I read really good things about Gdansk and Riga on the Baltics boards at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=192.

Tallin is a wonderful place to be and not to rush from site to site. It is very quaint and beautiful. I'm not a fan of the Rick Steves guides (I prefer Frommers), but the Rick Steves Scandinavia book has a great walking tour of Tallinn.

Have a great trip,
Donna

I've been to Visby a few years ago. I recommend just a walk through the small town. It's a really pitoresque town with a nice harbor and and narrow streets. If you'd enjoy you could explore the countryside by bike as biking is quite popular.
