I received the same e-mail as many of you today......a last minute deal on a 12-day Euro cruise on the Star for $50/day per person for an inside room.

Since I'm in a wheelchair 'full time' I'd need a handicapped room. I checked with Princess and there were no inside handicapped rooms available but for a mere $3500 per person I could get an outside room with a partially obstructed view, or better yet, $4500/pp for a balcony.

Needless to say I thanked the rep and hung up. It sure isn't their fault that I need a handicapped room and I totally understand that I will usually pay more for a larger room, but c'mon, I'm not an idiot!

Princess has always been very accomodating to me, but right now.......I just needed to vent.

I hope the $4500 room ($9000 with Doug) goes empty!

Jo -

Our sincerest sympathies! My dear MIL was with us on the Golden last month and needed the use of a wheelchair (wracked up her knee, temporary limited mobility) and it was a real consciousness raiser for us. I appreciate how getting burned on a killer rate just added insult to injury. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Feel free to write back and vent some more, we're with ya on this one Jo!

"These moments we’re left with - may you always remember
These moments are shared, by few
And those harbor lights, lord they’re coming into view
We’ll bid our farewells much too soon
So drink it up, this one’s for you -
Honey, it’s been a lovely cruise."

I understand your disappointment but I can't see why you are upset with Princess. If I understand correctly the offer was for an inside cabin. Since there were no inside handicap cabins available did you expect to get the same rate for an outside? The outside's and balconies are booking up but they have insides left that is why they are on sale. I don't believe they ever said outside rooms were on sale.

Jo, that hurts!! Sorry it didn't work out.

ahracer, I think the real anger is at the predicament, not Princess.

I would think Princess could do some room juggling to make an inside handicapped room available. Unless of course they are already filled with people who need them. It wouldn't hurt to pursue this route. Try again.
