How Formal is Formal Night on Princess

I am a newbee to the Princess board and I promise that I am not starting a flaming war.
Our family group of 9 just booked a cruise with the Caribbean Princess to celebrate my inlaws 50th anniversary on 1/8/05. My wife has a medical problem with her feet and legs that does not allow her to wear stockings or high heels. Therefore she cannot wear anything too fancy. Would she be out of place if she were to wear a nice pants outfit with flats?
