View Full Version : So, when should I expect my cruise docs?

The cruise starts July 14...though I'm leaving LA very early on July 11...which is a mere 24 days away...

I've received cruise docs as early as two months in advance (from Celebrity one time) and as late as one week prior--and only two days before I was to fly to Copenhagen (from Princess--and even that took multiple calls to my TA and from my TA to Princess)...Typically, it seems the standard in the industry, if there is such a thing, has been in the 25-30 days prior range...

I know it can vary for various reasons...
For us, we're doing air through Oceania, but the air was done as a deviation and has been complete for some time now...I can even get the "E-ticket" number off the internet...The cabin has been assigned since September--so, we're not waiting on cabin assignments...The cruise has been paid in full over two months ago...I completed inputting all our information electronically on the website months ago...

...And brian_uk, who is on my cruise reported that he received his docs some time ago...

So, what do you suppose is happening? When does Oceania typically send cruise docs? Should I get nervous? I hate to start calling my TA and nudging her unless necessary (Heavens knows I call and nudge enough)...

We received ours about 3 weeks prior to cruising.

Rule of thumb Steve,
If you dont have air tickets your agent could have requested they be sent quite a while ago..if you do have air tickets expect your TA to receive them 21 days in advance..if they dont, have them check that your Guest Information Form has been received and recorded by Oceania..the GIF holds up your documents if it is not in Oceanias system..

Thanks, Jan...
I guess I can hold back another week or so before having anxiety attacks... :)

I know my TA is pretty good and she'll let me know when she gets them...
I'm just onme of those impatient people who likes to have everything in order well before needed...Heck, I've even started packing!

We got our documents yesterday, for the Nautica's cruise departing on July 2nd, so it looks like yours might arrive two weeks from now!

We had requested and received an air deviation to fly in early, and we were able to confirm our seats assignments with Lufthansa, although due to that aforementioned mix-up with Oceania and LH, we're now stuck with two middle seats all the way across the Atlantic.

drwong, If I may give some advice, try to get to the airport earlier than usual and request the emergency exit seats. They are only given out at the airport on the day of the flight, as the agent needs to see that you are not handicapped. You may be able to switch to those seats and get the best legroom in the section. As a stewardess told me on a flight to Australia, it is like "business class in economy". We are able to get them about half the time.

Dr. Wong,
What a seat mess!! I feel badly for you and your wife. When O messed up our flight from Athens last year, you could feel them shrug their collective shoulders and say oh, well. Since you got some recompense, it seems they are becoming a bit more aware of "customer rights". We will be flying to Paris tomorrow on Air France for River cruise. We had seats together, now we don't. But at least we have aisle seats. Just keep thinking----Hilton, Hilton. Such a lovely hotel in such a convenient location. Fair winds and following seas. Thanks so much for all your help on this board. Pat
